I have a Remington 870 Witness Protection AOW that I want to SBS. Is the proper procedure to apply on a Form 1 and attach copies of the Form 4 AOW paperwork? Thanks in advance. |

Didn’t Wilson do the work for Remington? Either way, if it’s a legit WP870 I would leave it as is and SBS a TAC-14. Otherwise any value it had as an original is gone (if you care). |

| I think it's just the normal process. Haven't heard about attaching the old forms. I agree that if there's a chance it has some value it might be worth starting with something else. Is it a 3 shot mag or 4? If it's the long mag I think it's the same as a Tac 14 with a pistol grip. Another great example of how absurd the law is. |

FWIW, I wouldn’t. While AOW and SBS stamps are all $0, there are some states that are AOW-OK but not SBS. Some people also prefer an AOW as a travel gun since there’s no 5320.20 when crossing state lines. Sell it and buy a SBS. Or buy a Title 1 and chop it yourself, |

Just for clarity, the “Wilson” being referenced is not Bill Wilson of Wilson Combat, but Jim Wilson of Wilson Arms. He helped design the original US Marshal WP870 based on an RFP, then offered the commercial WP870 through his company Wilson Arms. Those particular WP870s are highly collectible in any form, but particularly so in the original AOW form. |
| I'm pretty sure I got to play with a couple Wilson guns back in Alaska. I think they were the Witness Protection guns. I remember one had the nifty sling that kept it under your arm. One thing I wonder about is that most of the articles I've seen mention a 12.5" barrel flush with the mag which is a 4 shot mag I believe. I swear at least one of them had the shorter 3 shot tube and I vaguely remember something about some of them being built on the Special Field size tubes or guns. |
