 TNVC Training executed another loaded Nightfighter 201 at our “home field” of Alliance PD Training Facility this past weekend (19-21 SEP 25). We love to come here, as we can work exterior and interior training as well as run our classes concurrently. We also had a Nightfighter 101 running over the same weekend. We can’t say enough about the ability to train on and off site when we’re conducting classes in and around Alliance Ohio, the unique nature of training facilities and relationships across several communities in the surrounding areas allow for a training experience that few, if any, other locations can match. Joe Weyer is a friend and mentor who not only facilitates our training but makes it better. Weather was surprisingly wonderful for a Fall class in Alliance…if you know you know (give it a minute, it will snow, then rain, then get up to 90, then snow again). Illumination was running around 3% (new moon) so on day one when we were doing external training, students got a great look at how their equipment working in super low illumination environments. Our student population this class was our regular mix of active and former LE and military, as well as “average earth people” (#yespat) that were all switched on and ready to train hard…to include a couple repeat offenders from previous Nightfighter 201s. The student body drives OPTEMPO in every class, and these guys were eager to get after it, allowing us to drive more reps and increase the learning curve…well done fellas. We had a couple equipment issues during this class, one hard malfunction during day one of live fire and one recoil assembly-based issue on day two at NLTA transition. We have to trust the process when we have malfunctions and run them the same way regardless of day or night…you can not see what you’re looking at in the fixed focal plane of the image intensification world and have to run your malfunction reduction drills by rote and feel. The equipment-based issue was a non-standard recoil assembly in a student’s gun (JP Enterprises piston). Luckily, another student had a replacement recoil spring and buffer to get this gun up and ready to continue class. We specifically mention in our welcome letters and at www.tnvc.com/training that non-standard recoil assemblies and LAW-type folders will not let NLTA run…make sure you’re reading! NF201 is not necessarily about the application of a ballistic solution to a problem, but how we layer our technology to gain information to make a decision to solve a problem. We love to see the light come on (pun intended), when students get over the “it’s one or the other” and apply increasing levels of energy (goggles only, IR illuminator, white light) to solve a problem. This ties directly to Positive Identification (PID). We experienced several students engage no shoot targets, and when hot washed and asked why, some stated “I thought it was X or Y.” Did we think or did we know? Were we positive? If I can see good in IR, but need more to see “gooder” (positively), why not apply white light to make sure you are sure? We put students in challenging locations with interesting angles and real or photonic barriers to increase the stress levels to get them to apply the appropriate technology to solve a problem. Watching those tumblers fall into place by day two and three is awesome, and these guys got after it. Additionally, several companies stepped up to offer students swag and door prizes for their attendance. We really appreciate their generosity and are proud to have them associated with our classes. TNVC always delivers amazing training. Joe is a fantastic host and the Alliance facilities are truly top notch. This wasn't my first and will not be my last time training with TNVC or with Joe. My rifle had the hard lockup during the first night, ended up being a very hard stuck case that had to be driven out with a rod, thank you TNVC Joe for helping get that cleared. Transitioning to the pistol was good training reps as well as the utter joy of shooting an RDS handgun under NODs. The training scenarios put forth during days 2 and 3 were very well layered, allowing us to build on previous training as well as what we had gone over. Seeing the difference with the IR and white light to make good PID was an eye opener for sure. Having to deal with the photonic barriers during some runs greatly showed the importance of having solid onboard illumination as well as having friends with guns, and lights, when trying to clear structures. Learning most assuredly occurred. #yespat |

Awsome training with Joe, Chip and Ephraim. NF201 is the next level stuff. Anyone attending 201, be sure to use a standard DI AR15, no piston upper, fancy capture spring, or LAW folding stock etc. Read the Welcome letter twice! I left my FN SCAR16 at home which I used for NF101. |
