Any thoughts? |

The fit and finish is incredible, I cannot find a flaw of any kind on this gun. Probably be a few weeks until I can actually shoot it. I realize being a straight blow back gun there will be more recoil compared to most of my other 9mm PCC's as they are mostly roller delayed or radially delayed or something similar but I've shot plenty of blowback 9mm PCC's and never found them to be uncomfortable to shoot. Also, as a bonus, these come with a threaded barrel (1/2x28) and a tri-lug so swapping a suppressor off one of my MP5 clones to use on this will be easy. |

First use and results. Outside and especially inside the ARP9 seems to have extremely high quality and clean build. It is a simple blowback machine, easy to clean and care for. Hybrid 46 with fixed mount screwed on and concentricity looked very good. SB's FS1913 went right on, but was extremely stiff and impossible to fold and unfold. Barrel and chamber looked very good and great after 10 brush strokes. Safety was nice, bolt spring is strong, bolt is heavy weight, mag release and bolt hold open are stiff, they work and don't do things you don't want. Separating the upper and lower and reassembly was no problem. I used some CLP in the chamber, on the extractor, on all pivoting places and some on the bolt sides. Awshit: I went to mount a dot sight and realized I forgot it, rats. The included folding sights needed Torx, forgot that too, more rats. Baldr S green laser light to the rescue, mounted on the top rail, thumb push up to activate. Love the Baldr S green. Monarch 115 gr steel case: 5 in the included short mag, 10 in the supplied longer mag, 5 in a Pmag 15 rd and 15 in a Glock 17 rd mag. All shot no problems, fast present and shoot gave fantastic results from 8 yards. Lots of CLP smoke from the first several shots, some back spray on first shots only. The ARP9 was not gassy, it's not an eye burner. Recoil and trigger were not noticed, so they must be no problem. Excellent hits were noticed, results exceeded expectations! Monarch 115, 14 fit in the supplied "15 rd" magazine. Faster present and shoot from 5 yards gave most excellent results. Shot the remaining one rd, it went through the ragged hole. Last round bolt hold open worked with both supplied magazines but didn't work with Pmag and Glock mags. 50 rounds of cheapest ammo, excellent shooting experience. Cleaning later was very easy, the ARP9 ran really clean. Later, mounted dot sight behind the Baldr S gr laser light, dot sees over the Baldr S, top rail is the place for both. Conclusion: Ammo spending will increase because ARP9. Smiles and joy will increase too. |

Should have mentioned, empty mag bolt hold open does work with Pmag and Glock mag, when bolt is hand cycled. Hundred dollars more here but money well spent so far. SB FS 1913 brace problem solved by gun shop customer. He drove out the roll pin to get the very stiff spring out, used heat and pressure to relax the spring, reinstalled it and now the FS 1913 works like it should. This is the polymer version of the SB brace, it is very nice. After 147 gr hollow points are tried, I'll report results. |

The ARP9 must have felt OK with respect to recoil because I only noticed the target and didn't notice recoil. This with a Hybrid 46 and laser but not a dot sight. A Ruger PC9, the heavy one with the long M-Loc hand guard, has very noticeable recoil, caused when the heavy bolt slams into the thin plastic "buffer" stop at the rearmost part of the bolt's travel. This is with a suppressor, dot sight and laser. All three of the above are very easy to shoot well, a Glock in the Recover chassis is by far the smallest, lightest and handiest. It's also the most eye burning of the bunch. Shot from low, using a green dot laser there is not an eye burning problem. Aim with a dot and there is. A G 19.4 has a stiffer recoil spring than a G 17.2, so it is less of an eye burner. Spacing the dot sight higher helps too. An MP5, 16" bbl clone I've used had the mildest recoil compared to the above. It is relatively heavy for a PCC, so that weight and the roller delay causes it to be a gentle shooter. Ruger note: the bolt is heavy but the recoil spring is fairly light. This light spring causes the bolt to be moving pretty fast when it slams into the rearward end of its travel. Another manifestation is that the Ruger PC9 will function with much lighter loads than a Glock 17. And, then there is port pop, the Ruger has too much unless you are using light handloads. Finally, the long, heavy barrel helps keep the PC9 stay on target during fast shooting, but the takedown feature causes poor 50 yard accuracy, at least on mine. |

Panzer ARP9 update: back to the range with 115 gr Monarch steel case, old Winchester White Box 147 gr HP and an old Bushnell Trophy rifle dot sight. Suppressor was a Hybrid 46 on fixed mount. The sight has both red and green as well as multiple reticles. Green is too dim, red is fine. I used red, dot and circle reticle, bottom of circle for 8 yards and center dot for 16 yards. Monarch 115's 5rds, 5, and 5 from 8 yards using 2 Glock and 1 Pmag magazines, in sort of fast shooting the hits were excellent. All the mags locked the bolt open on the last shot. Back to 16 yards, 15 rds 115 gr from a Glock 17 rd mag. On a B-27 target and not trying very hard, all were 10 ring, with 11 X ring. Last round bolt hold open worked. 147 gr Win White Box hollow points, 7 rounds from 8 yards. Function was perfect, accuracy was fantastic, did not notice any other difference in shooting. Recoil, trigger and gas blowback were not noticed, so they must be just fine for my shooting. Using Glock pattern mags is very convenient. Didn't notice port pop, but I wear very good Peltor passive hearing protection, so port pop might not be noticed if there is some. Hand placement on the ARP9 is very easy and there are enough "land marks" to get repeatable hold. I'm shooting elbows down, not "chicken wing", this hold works pretty well. Cleaning was once again very easy and the ARP wasn't very dirty. So far, so good. |
