With the new changes I may go ahead and commemorate the event with a new can A suppressor for a handgun is a bit of a cool novelty for me but still fun. What 9mm can and barrel would you pick for my G45 gen5 9mm with RMR-HD on it if money wasn't an object..? I want all the features like reliable function, quiet, lightweight and compact (though I know that's a balance with sound) Appreciate the help.... FREEDOM

I love the two @ECCO_Machine titanium pistol cans I recently bought, the Canine and TLX 5.5. The canine is pulling duty on a PSA dagger with holosun and recover brace. You may chuckle but it just runs. I shoot monarch 124gr, they are supersonic. I shoot it with hearing protection but standing behind me a few feet it's noticably reduced compared to unsuppressed. If I had to use indoors or in vehicle I would have some hearing and blast protection is why I got it. The TLX is on a WASR 9mm carbine and performs the same. |

I like my Rugged Obsidian 9 quite a bit. Especially being able to change the length for a little more compact and less front-heavy setup. Although, if you have other calibers you could get the Obsidian 45. Swap out the piston and end cap and you're set for 9mm; and it can also handle most other common pistol calibers (again perhaps with end cap and piston swap). For barrels, there are several options. The only real problem I've had with aftermarket Glock barrels was with a Lone Wolf Alpha Wolf barrel which had feeding issues, but that was in .45acp so might not be a great data point for their 9mm offerings. |

The CAT SC was designed specifically for the G19, so should do well on G45 with the same slide. The modular version is harder to find in stock, the short version is usually more available. Pew science rates it very high if you care about their ratings. Most user feedback I’ve seen say the Mojave 9 is close in sounds outside of FRP. Benefit of the Mojave is that it’s rated for FRT if you want to swap it to a PCC |

I run a spectre9. Its very lightweight. The new K model may be even better. I was amazed at the light-ness when I took it out of the box. Ive killed many critters with it While boosterless cans are cool and save some weight. I just dont trust their reliability on a non-dedicated handgun. |

I want all the features like reliable function, quiet, lightweight and compact A TB Fly 9 meets your suppressor requirements very well. Not cheap, but I'm happy with mine as a light and quiet 9mm pistol suppressor. It comes with a 1/2-28 piston. I'm not sure what threaded glock barrel would be best in that thread pattern. 7.9oz, 7.0 inches (Long) 5.5oz, 4.4 inches (Short) https://thunderbeastarms.com/products/fly9 |

We have a new Optimus 9 AM coming out. It is the most quiet actual pistol can made. It was built to attempt to deliver a balance of incredible muzzle reduction and shooter experience. A lot of short cans punch really loud sound out the back and that makes the shooter experience kind of garbage. |

They are being machined now, but we have to send piston retainers to PVD, so that's going to be a short time. I think 5-6 weeks is about the time we're talking about here. The can is the right can for people that want a quiet pistol can. There are a ton of options on the market for other things, so it's only worth waiting if that is important to you. |

A tapered glock barrel doesn’t make sense. With Glock barrels you need some minor tolerance at the front end to be able to tilt the barrel enough to take the gun apart. Tapering the barrel behind the front where the slide bearing surface is, will just result in less barrel thickness and reduce the potential accuracy of the barrel itself. The glock isn’t a 1911, where it can have an angle bored bushing and .0005” tolerance and run and be able to be taken apart by removing the bushing. The 1911 is where a tapered barrel makes a little sense- getting the rest of the barrel out of sliding contact with the closer fit bushing. |

How would you describe the backpressure/blowback characteristics on it? |

Can you give us some more info? @green0 They tested both in 9mm- I think there was great difficulty in obtaining normal non +P ammo for the 45, because they hadn't planned to have a .45 host or ammo present, so that result we were told would be omitted. The higher pressure .45 ammo adds to a signature unnecessarily. Originally Posted By NamLeets: I have other options in my inventory for now, so I can wait. How would you describe the backpressure/blowback characteristics on it? The 9mm backpressure is pretty light by 9mm suppressor standards. The .45 on the 9 has even less, and does have similar high signature reduction so it's another option that adds 1.2" to length and makes the bore 1/2" rather than 9mm specific. |

CAT SCS I absolutely love my CAT SCS on a G19 MOS with Trijicon RMR HRS. Apparently, CAT designed the SC and SCS around the Glock 19, and it does perform amazingly on mine. I took it out to my property to test it out shooting a steel silhouette in my pasture. First shot was with S&B 150gr FP FMJ from a berm at 100yards at the sound of the steel ringing was much louder than the report. I shot 200rds without even thinking of putting on my ear muffs. For me, it was "hearing safe" with everything I fed it, 115gr federal bulk, 124gr Nato winchester, 115gr monarch, 147gr blazer, and 124gr +p speer golddot. The only ammo that did not cycle was 147gr blaser "suppressor" ammo... I also read it was not recommended due to being "plated" and not actually "jacketed" FMJ. I also noticed a tiny bit of "brass" colored scuff marks on the "end cap" of the suppressor after shooting a few rounds of the blaser 147gr. I stopped shooting any more of the blaser and switched to s&b only and the "residue" or "scuff" marks dissappeared... So I do not recommend shooting blaser through a suppressor. YMMV |

It's lightweight and sounds great. But it costs over $1k. I have the Ecco TLX as well (both 6.5 and 5.5 and I own two of each BTW). It's half the price of the Fly9, just as light and I can't hear any difference in the sound (both were tested at the Sound Summit in 2025 I believe, so test data for both is available). The only thing you give up with the TLX is modularity. That's why I ended up with both sizes. The Fly 9 and TLX are hands down my favorite pistol cans and the ones I shoot the most. I also own two TiRant 9 HDs (also great sounding cans, but large and heavy), an Odessa and a CGS Kraken/Mod9. |

While a stellar performer according to the Summit and very impressive given its length, that's not true. The PTR Vent 2, which has a built in booster cage for a piston, beats the Optimus 9 am in every single category except for MR Imp dB*ms. |

My other 9mm choice is an Obsidian 45 with a 9mm piston and 9mm end cap. It's reasonable in short (6.7") config for 9mm pistol. I can use 9mm and 45acp hard lead bullets that I reload since it can be taken apart for cleaning. |
