Ammo is key with the Maxim buffer; fast powders and heavy bullets are crazy soft. |

I built my 9mm PCC using a Stern Defense adapter for Glock mags, and standard AR15 upper and lower parts. It runs just fine. Using the adapter, I have the option of going back to a standard AR15 by replacing the upper, the buffer, and removing the adapter. The adapter for Glock magazines has been problem free. I also have one for Beretta mags, and I have had some issues with it. But, I think I just don’t have it adjusted correctly yet. From my research, I found that the recommended bolt/buffer weight was about 21.5-24oz, I’m using 21.9oz, and it runs well. But, that’s for my setup. YMMV. |

One with an adapter for Colt stick mags and a second with a dedicated PSA AR9 lower. Both ran just fine with nothing more than a heavy buffer. Perhaps not as soft shooting as some of the fancy builds being discussed but nothing extra to fail either. |
