As the title states, I have a safe in the garage and recently put a hygrometer in there because I was concerned about humidity. With the Texas heat, it's running 90+ degrees in there and showing 58% humidity. This is with a goldenrod. TBH I'm not the best with keeping everything oiled so would like to know whether I should be more proactive on the humidity, or if that is considered safe. |

58% humidity isn’t bad. I’d want to know the tenp and humidity relative to ambient conditions outside the safe. As long as the inside temp is 2 degrees or higher than ambient temp and humidity is the same or lower than ambient, it’s fine. To be safe, I’d add some VCI capsules. Hose down steel parts with Hornaday One Shot. |
| I have a similar situation, 81 with 45-50% humidity in my garage. I have VCI tabs in my safe and all ammo cans that contain mags, parts, etc. You can get them from Uline. |
