I snatched three of these at $140 each, wish I bought ten but wasn't sure of the condition. Oh well, at least I got in on the deal. Turned out really nice if I don't say so myself... one down, two to go.

At $140 each I hope you wore a mask when you stole those. I haven't seen that set of receiver side markings before. Perhaps that is late production 870? The corncob wood fore end definitely looks vintage Usually I see "Remington 870 Police Magnum" or a few older parkerized guns marked "Remington 870 Magnum" or really old ones marked Remington 870 Wingmaster Can't say I recall seeing "Remington MODEL 870" before. That was an insanely good deal $140 each!  Bigger_Hammer

Bigger_Hammer @Bigger_Hammer The distributor who actually got these directly from the SO gave a bunch of us at our SO a heads up and early pick before getting rid of them, there were a little over 100 at the start and many of us at my agency snatched up almost all of them. My serial number Prefix is W which dates to 1984-1989 and the barrel codes match that with two being 1985 and the other 1987. Depending on where you look, the word POLICE started around 91-94? I suppose this marking was used in-between WINGMASTER and POLICE? ETA- I just had my wife take pics of the other two receivers... so I have three SG's marked as follows: One marked- Remington 870 MAGNUM Two marked- Remington Model 870 MAGNUM I believe the two marked MODEL are the two from 1985 and the other is 1987. |

Those are very good looking guns & that price can't be beat. 👍 Great deal for You & your fellow officers / deputies. I've got a few surplus 870 wood stocks that I am going to try my hands following your method. Thank you for sharing your method(s) Bigger_Hammer
