Just curious if anyone can give any insight Carcano purchased maybe 60s or earlier. Unknown history. For some reason the barrel is lose so unsafe to shoot Attached File The other is a marlin 100 or JC Higgins 103.18. odd addition on the stock. Never knew why. Typical 22lr. That Carcano, due to the barrel length and carbine adjustable sight must have started life as a TS carbine. It wouldn't have been a cavalry moschetto as they have a massive block that holds he bayonet to the front of the carbine. What's the date on the barrel shank and who is the manufacturer? They will both be listed on the shank. Also, I had an M91 infantry rifle where the barrel was only hand tight to the receiver and I could unscrew it by hand. I took it to my gunsmith and he put some kind of thread locket on it and it's been just fine, I still shoot it. |
