I want a dedicated 556 can. I’m considering a turbo k rb, and having a hard time seeing any reason to go with a more expensive option. I’ve read/seen good things about the Rhino X, and I’m not opposed. Either would be used with a plan b mount. The Turbo k is lighter and less expensive. I know the Tisha is also pretty hyped right now, but I think it was heavier and more expensive than either of the other 2. |

| Having just recently upgraded from a YHM to an OCL Infinity 556k, I have to say this difference in performance and sound reduction is very real. I was of the view before that 556 is so loud as is pretty much any older can would do fine for my purpose of taking the edge off. I didn’t realize how much more reduction a modern can could provide and that’s before even getting to the better performance with so much less gas pressure in the system. To be clear, it’s not like I’m going to start shooting without earpro but even with earpro the difference is very much noticeable and more comfortable for both me as shooter and people nearby. So I wouldn’t look at it as a gucci vs basic purchase. Older cans are still absolutely better than shooting without but the modern tech is a definite step up that’s not just frivolous chasing of what’s cool on IG. |

Tell us about the host. Barrel length? Gas system length? Do you know the GP size? Are you willing to tune the gun? Do you use weak-sauce ammo? What kind firing schedule do you envision? FRT use? Something to consider: if this is going to be a dedicated suppressed gun you could use a higher back pressure can (usually these are cheaper and also quiet at the muzzle) and restrict the gas using something like a Black River Tactical EZ tune gas tube. By restricting the gas (and then fine tune with buffer and spring) it'll be quieter at the ear and less gas to the face. |

The Tisha doesn’t feel anywhere near as heavy as it is to me. There’s always the Ti Tisha. I’ve had the Tisha on 10.5” and 11” SBR’s. I don’t know much about the Rhino, but the Tisha is a hard act to follow. ETA: Can we start calling the Ti Tisha the “TiTi”? |
|
I’m of the same mind. This morning I was considering a Canik Void 5.56k (Otter Creek made with venting front cap) vs a Tisha in inconel. I’ll probably get both, lol. Until recently I haven’t bought any latest generation cans but I finally got set up with a slick pimp / pusher named Capitol Armory, lol. |

The griffin GP5 is pretty sweet on my 14.5” carbine. I shot it without muffs yesterday and it’s doable. Attached File |
Game on!

(Primary) host will be a 16 inch build with a BRT barrel. I don’t want to tune the gas to run suppressed only, but I do shoot decent ammo, nothing underpowered. This is my “go to” rifle. It will also probably get use on my 18 inch SPR. I currently have nothing short it’s going on but may have another 10.3 or 11.5 in the future. My main considerations are weight, durability and signature reduction. Not chasing the lowest decibel rating. |

Weight & durability run counter to each other, and most shorter & lighter K cans have more pronounced flash. Many titanium cans hold up well on a muzzle brake, but titanium often also sparks. You may have to compromise on weight. |

If you want it to run both suppressed and unsuppressed, then reliability in both conditions is #1 priority. Over sound, etc. Set the gun up to run unsuppressed. Then put a LPB can on it. That way the gun will be reliable in both conditions. On a 16" gun, a K can that is not heavy is the way to go. The Rhino X would be a good choice in that application. Low enough BP. Light (esp with a Ti hub adapter, and Rearden R2S or similar). Inconel for durability and not sparky. 5" long. Cost effective. Or a Rhodie 6k. Or something similar. |

I ran a competition yesterday with my Rhodie 6k. I got multiple comments form people saying how quiet it is. It failed to trigger the shot timer multiple times as well. At around $800 it seems like a tough one to beat. |
Your boos mean nothing, I've seen what makes you cheer

The rhino x surprised me on shorter barrels, works very well. It would benefit from an adjustable gas block on my builds though. It was a big jump in performance over my old yankee hill phantom. If you want short and light the Ecco 5x5 is an option to consider, it was on my short list but I caught the rhino on a sale and wanted to try a printed can. |

A lot of praise for the ridgeback defense cans. Pros and cons of the 6k vs the rhino x? Did you guys buy direct from Ridgeback or somewhere else? If direct from ridgeback do you have to handle all of the paperwork yourself? |

From what I can gather the rhino is smaller and lighter and the 6/6k are higher performing maybe lower back pressure but a bit bigger and heavier. |

I took my Infinity 556k out yesterday to compare with my Turbo T3 and Rhino X. The Rhino X is the quietest to me. Gas is very low on an 11.5 SD complete upper. On another 11.5 with a BRT EZTune and Bootleg adjustable BCG, I had to put the carrier to the unsuppressed setting with Infinity 556k for it to function. Virtually no gas and smooth, but it throws off the balance of the light weight upper. The Infinity weighs over 5 ounces more than the T3. I think the Infinity will go to my 14.5 SD i use as an SPR. I think I will get another Rhino X to replace my T3, I really love that can and so handy. |
Dare to tame me. Nothing can hold back my rage. Dare to tame me. You can't fool the faithless. Dare to tame me. Fear the man who lost it all.

Rhino X vs Rhodie 6k. Both a claimed to be about 12.5 oz (w/o a mount; I put Ti hub mounts in my cans . . . ) The RX is 5", 6k is 4.5". X is smaller diameter than the Rhodies (which are 1.75" diameter). Both are Inconel. The RX is lower BP than the X. Flash on both is good. Hard to go wrong with either. I have a Rhodie 6, and a Rhino X. Buying a 6K next. I buy direct from Ridgeback but as noted, sometimes you can do better on price if on sale. When you buy on the Ridgeback site, you fill out your info and payment into. You let them know which SOT you want it sent to, then contact your SOT to have them email their SOT to Ridgeback to ensure they have it. Or buy from Bauer EVT or some other shop. The Ridgeback cans are very popular and usually backordered. If you can fine one in stock at a dealer, buy it. If not, you are gonna wait for at least a few weeks but it's worth it, IMO. The Ridgeback cans have shallow blast chambers, you have to use shorter muzzle devices. Pay attention to that. A Rearden R2S and similar length MD works. Also consider the Irregular Defense cans. They seem to be good performers. And not just them. Lots of good choices now. Cans are just getting better and better. I say, buy the best you can afford. You'll smile every time you use it years from now, instead of gritting your teeth with regret. |

With the 16” length I’d look to hesychia 556UK also. 4.5” extremely flow through seems to sound good. Otherwise rhodie 6k those would be my two choices. Evan is supposedly coming with a fireteam 556k also. Griffin also has some really nice K cans like the HRT 5K hub that is like $750 or something. For the money the Rhodie 6k or Rhino X is going to be hard beat. Especially the 6k considering the host. |

I would like to get it from capital armory since it will make the paperwork part a lot easier. Originally Posted By thunderopossom: Is under $1k considered Gucci? Ben from marketing is the rep we sent, he’s there 2-3 days from what I understand. I stayed at work as I have kind of a never ending list of engineering design stuff to try to carry through. |

You can make sense of it all on their website description(s). I just got the HRT5AM, HRT5KAM, DL7AM and the DL5AM will be getting approved probably this week or next. Can’t wait to shoot these: Attached File Attached File I love the texture on the GA cans. There’s a lot of options and it can be confusing at first which does what, but all the questions have been asked and answered in the GA Industry forum. |

If you’re looking at the griffin cans check this thread out too https://www.ar15.com/forums/armory/Griffin-Armament-DUAL-LOK-5-AM-suppressor-test/20-561295/? Green0 discusses the benefits of the material they are using in comparison to inconel in one post and Haynes in another post in the thread. Interesting stuf |
