This thread is primarily for 5320.20 (transport and change of address) submissions. But if you've got a Form 5 or other oddity, it can go here too. The basic rules: 1. Please make sure you've chosen the correct thread to post in 2. Please provide the type of form (5320.20, Form 5, etc.) and the circumstances surrounding the form (5320.20: temporary interstate transport vs permanent change of address / Form 5: Heir from estate, DEWAT transfer, temporary for repair, PD purchase/sale, etc.) 3. Please mention if a state-level permit or license is involved. This can also include a C&R license if you're a C&R holder and the firearm in question is C&R. 4. Please provide all available info, such as any dates you know, individual vs entity, if you emailed or snail-mailed the form, etc. 5. If the information is not provided, there's no need to ask for it. Since there's often no rhyme or reason to the order of approvals, if somebody doesn't specify they filed as an individual...move on. 6. DO NOT post until at least one approval is received. It's okay to post if you submitted a batch and note that 1+ approvals were received while others are still pending. There are a lot of members that subscribe to the tracking threads, and it does no good if they're notified and all they learn is somebody submitted a form. 7. No unnecessary chatter. Ask a legit question, but don't calculate somebody's wait time, or post "mine's pending the same day, so hoping it's approved soon", or anything else that doesn't really add to the discussion. 8. If you want to go back and add info (maybe you posted when you found out your dealer received your F4, but didn't have the actual approval date), edit your post instead of posting again or quoting your post and adding the info. |

Two 5320.20 were emailed together on 07/19/2023 for temporary interstate transport. No state permits had to be submitted with either form. All items are individually owned. All were for temporary transport (out of state travel) to the same place. 5320.20 #1 for one SBS and two DDs was approved on 07/28/2023 and received by me on 08/07/2023. 5320.20 #2 for two SBRs and one MG was approved on 08/08/2023 and received by me on 08/14/2023. |

2x 5320.20, one for a F4 suppressor, one for a F1 SBR, emailed 11/15/23 for permanent move. Approved 11/20/23. Received 12/5/23. Moved on 11/27/23.  (Examiner did email me to tell me they were approved on 11/20 since I indicated I was moving likely before the forms would arrive physically).

Submitted TWO separate 5320.20 for transport, one for a trust the other as an individual. Separate e-mails. Bothe submitted April 9th One (the individual) was received “approved” on April 19th. I am still waiting on the other as of May 3rd. I am traveling to a shoot on May 30th. Is there any way to inquire about the status if I get close to departure without the form in hand? UPDATE: e-mailed a status request on May 7th with no response. I CALLLED on May 9th and was told the form was not received until May 7th, so I guess they didn’t act on it until I e-mailed again. On the phone I was told it is “pending”. As of May 20th (13 days) I have not received anything. Hopefully an approved form will arrive before my travel date. UPDATE 2: Received my approved form May 22. Lesson learned: If you haven’t received your form after two weeks of submitting via email, CALL and politely ask for a status. Another ARFCOM member told me this happens more often than you might think. |

Submitted forty 5320.20 forms for interstate travel on October 18, 2024. (I skip notifications for my exempt stuff.) Eight approved on 10-24, five on 10/25, and twenty on 10/28. I was out of town for a week and my mail was held. All of these were picked up at the post office on 11/04. Four approved 10/28 and received on 11/06. One was approved on 10/28 and one was approved on 10/30. Both of these were received on 11/12. One was never received. I re-sent it to ATF on 11/21. It was approved on 12/06 and received on 12/20. |

09-09-2025: 45x 5320.20 forms emailed. 09-12-2025: 45x 5320.20 forms approved. 09-22-2025: 45x 5320.20 forms received. These were all for interstate transport of individually-owned firearms. No state-level permits or licenses required for any of the destinations. In over 20 years of sending these stupid forms, this is THE FIRST TIME:  a. All forms were returned in the same envelope. What a concept; $31.05 in postage, plus 45 envelopes, plus a cover sheet with staple for each submission versus one large flat envelope, $3.84 in postage, and without 45 cover sheets and staples. b. All forms were returned the first time without multiple attempts. Normally I submit my batch and 1-3 individual forms always require a second submission or even a third submission. c. All forms were approved without some silly disapproval that requires multiple phone calls and/or emails to fix. (I'm not talking about stuff like taking a MG to HI or NY. This is crap like, after years of normal approvals, suddenly ATF wouldn't okay SD for DDs because someone did a really tortured reading of an unchanged state law. Or their constant claims of my Lahti's overall length being 8" because whoever input during the amnesty used feet instead of inches and no, they won't fix their error, etc.*) *Eventually I just forwarded an old email thread between me and my first examiner to the new examiner annually. "If my Lahti has a barrel length of 52", how can the overall length be just 8" long? Bullpup?" ... "So you see, the correct 96" actual overall length / 12", and 12" is a foot, is 8' long. That's why you show 8" on your end; someone input feet instead of inches, which goes against what NFA forms demand for measurements. Can you correct this, or at least approve the form now that we've figured out the problem?" |

5320.20, 12 forms for 4 states (8 SBRs, 1 SBS). Temporary transportation for 1 year. Individual. Emailed 09/23/2025 Approved 09/29/2024 per “Authorized NFA Division Official." On the bottom of all the forms, 09/24/2025 with a time a little before 8:00AM was stamped. I sent at like 7:00PM the night before, so probably date/time of when they printed from the email. Approvals postmarked 10/01/2025 Approvals received 10/06/2025 Funny thing, last year I got them in a similar envelope with a printed name/address. This one has name/address written in black permanent marker. Speaking as Federal L/E, who is working without being paid... it appears to me that there was a rush to get these forms out before the shutdown. We have positions that were furloughed previous years where they are working right now (same situation, not being paid). And this was found out late on 9/30. Hopefully, NFA Division personnel are still able to be processing. |

Submitted 3 Form 20 last night about 11 PM through eForms web site at 1100-1200 PM. All three were approved this morning emailed before 0800. All were temporary move with multiple trips for a 1 year period. Look up worked fine form my Form 1's. Got it to work for a form 4 as well. So it looks like the new eForms 20 is working. |

5320.20 Efiled 2/4/26 @ approximately 8pm Email with the approval received 2/5/26 @ 7:17 am This was for interstate travel with an SBS One note, when I went to the Efile page without logging on, the 5320.20 was not listed as one of the available forms. But it did show up when I logged on. |

Nine eF5320.20 submitted the morning of Friday 02/13/2026. All received approved on Tuesday 02/17/2026. The three days in the middle included a weekend and a federal holiday (President's Day), so this is essentially overnight approval. One oddity, though: I submitted on 02/13/2026 but the electronic copies all show I submitted on 02/17/2026.  Either way, still nice to have a functioning system. |

My annual submission of a pile of 5320.20 for temporary interstate transport. Normally I have 40-50 or more paper submissions. This time I had ten eForm submissions thanks to allowing more than three guns per form. I also had ten paper form submissions due to problems with my inventory. No state licenses needed in any destination state. Everything was done as an individual; no trusts or corps involved. eForms were all submitted on Saturday, August 01, 2026 and approved on Monday, August 03, 2026. Of interest, my eForms submission date was on the forms as Monday, August 03, 2026. The paper forms were scanned and emailed on Saturday, August 01, 2026. They have not yet been approved or returned. |

So, I have 15 SBRs/SBSs… but 14 are finally done. My Rossi will need to be adjusted since the barrel/OAL will be different… so holding off on that until it is updated. Did eForm 5320.20s last night at work for the 14 to four states. Got the approvals this morning. Very happy with that. |
