F-in' awesome. I realize yours is probably aimed at the FRT crowd, but I've been carrying a 40 rounder in the rifle more often when out in the bush. Ten more rounds is worth the slight increase in length. Doesn't matter going prone. The KYWIs on my belt kit can obviously accommodate them, so that's another mag's-worth of ammo for almost nothing. |

Yea, they turned out nicely. I haven't seen anything like this out there for the FRT guys. I think I'm going to add some D-rings and make them a normal item, people can run them on their belt kits nicely. That'll make 40 round pmags alot easier to carry for an auto gunner. Might even be popular with the Marines too, with their new fancy pewpews....being able to carry 40 round pmags. |

I'm adding D-rings to the next batch so that you can run them REALLY high on your belt, and attach your harness straps directly to the pouches so that they don't ride down low like you are talking about. It should work decently. |

I've never understood the utility of AR 40-rd mags vice common 30 rd mags being worth extra cost of 40 rd mags, not to mention extra cost of suitable pouches. Likely such mags are kinda problematic when shooting prone. Just because one "can" do something is not a good reason for actually doing it. Most of us "can" jump off a bridge.... True that many plastic mags, for various platforms, require mag pouches somewhat larger in internal dimensions than far more common GI mag pouches. For example, users of Gen 2 Plastic Tapco 30-rd mags for Mini-14s probably suffer from same mag pouch non-availability problem as do many AR plastic mag users. Call this a HINT to pouch Mfr's. Likely possible to construct mag pouch for typical plastic mags for many platforms which use same Ctg. Contact me for details/info pertaining to Tapco Gen 2 Plastic mags for Mini-14s. Likely a "universal" pouch can be easily designed which will accommodate most, if not all plastic 30-rd platforms. |

You can fit 3 x AR magazines WITH the magpuls on them in my regular triple 30 round AR mag pouches. But they cinch down nicely with some decent retention at the same time. They will also fit 2 x AK magazines, even the bigger bulky waffle circle 10 Bulgarian polymer ones. |

Because you've never had to respond to an ambush while on patrol, assault through a stronghold, etc. Having 10 more rounds while fighting outweighs being a half inch lower while shooting prone during qual once a year. |

These look great for a belt kit. My solution for a split front was to use specters pouches with an adjustable lid. Attached File But they wouldn't work well for a belt kit. |

Yup. These are either for a belt kit, or on a pack. It'd work with a split rig like yours too if you wanted it. But I don't think they'd be optimal for that. |

More bullets more better. If a pouch can fit a 40, it can fit a 30. Coupled 40s are what stay in the house gun and oh shit gear. If I have to surprise shoot someone I’ll be lucky to have skivies or shoes on. In my limited experiences with exchanges of pyrotechnic ill will, capacity was very important. And these are definitely going on a belt kit. |

There's a lot of grass, brush, and deadfall here to get over, so lower is not always better. I'm set for 30 rounders. Any more mags I buy from here on out will be 40s. |

Alot of guys using 40 round mags are running 'auto rifles' (with FRT's) - alot of the time using a bipod. Which is taller than a precision rifle's bipod. |

Has any one tried the British MTP stuff for the SA80 with 40 rounders? Your pouch does remind me of these other British MTP pouches I found for IAR things. ![]() Civ IAR kits are hot. I do like your buckles better, but I think I like surface mount even more in use. But yours are easier to repair in field so... tradeoffs. |

I HIGHLY doubt the 40 rounders will fit in those pouches, even a single one (and have the lid stay closed) Those MTP pouches are British Utility pouches (or UGL, LMG, or Canteen pouches - they are all VERY similar, just very slightly different sizes) and are great for 'stuff'. Though personally I think they are a bit too bulky for magazine use (and will suck if you are down to just a couple magazines clanking away in that pouch with no retention) Alot of my gear I make - magazine pouches included - are influenced by British gear, with American style input, and tweaked to my liking. I try to make them simple and durable and useful for more than just one thing. I've done surface mount ones before, I just prefer the others. For the same reason. I CAN do surface mount ones if someone really wants them though. |

My bro's getting a bandoleers made for 40s and D60s. His DZ rig set up for the 'auto' rifle is a pig, but it's comfy. I just think 40s are great on a general purpose rifle. Normally, a 20 is kept in my 'SPR' AR. |

Got the pouches. They are nice. They hold 3 40 rd pmags, and 3 Ak pmags 5 35rd Akv/scorpion mags And if you synch down the shock cord retention it will hold two 20 rd 308 pmags without needing to throwing in something to hold them up. 4 aluminum at mags can also fit if you put something in there to hold them up. Goldilocks snug. No difficulty or stretching. Also looks to be about a slim Nalgene size but I don’t have one to check. @marnsdorff great job. I hope this project turns out to be something you have in your production rotation. |

My regular magazine pouches fit one at least, and this is about the same size. It'll be snug though, this isn't really designed to be a water bottle pouch. |

They missed out on putting little webbing loops on the sides to attach shock cord like they ddid on the PLCE utility pouches. It's an easy enough mod to do though. Or just wrap it all the way around through the molle channel. Looks good btw. |
