I am getting ready to load my first magnum length cartridge (300prc) and it looks like space on the press (Redding big boss 2) will be at a premium. Normally on a single stage I use Forster ultra micrometer dies, but I was thinking about using a die style that allows passing the bullet from the window. Mainly because the 3.7” COAL is likely going to make things a bit tight. Anyone have any other recommendations or experience with these dies? Are these a good fit for 300PRC, I will be loading longer bullets (225ELDM or similar) exclusively as this is going to be mainly for longer range shooting. I have over 50k reloaded under my belt but feel like I’m back in a spot where I don’t even know what I don’t know getting into long action cartridges so and advice here is welcome.  LINK |

I use Redding and forester sleeved dies, I think they do a better job loading concentric ammo..With that said I load 300 rum to almost 4.00" using the 230 Berger, using sleeved dies, but I use an RCBS Summit press because it has a bigger opening for the big magnum cases and sleeved dies....Works flawless and produces excellent ammo... Normal rock chucker without a die even inserted in the press..you can see how close the bullet is to the press... Attached File The summit press with same bullet/case and the sleeved die... The visuals here paint a much bette picture of the concerns I have. Any downsides to the summit in your experience? |

If I could own only one, it would be the summit, it has performed flawlessly for me...Zero issues, zero problems with it...The summit is 1" larger between the shell holder and the die holder than the Rock Chucker....so roughly 4.700" versus 3.700"...... |
