They all fit under the seat. Check out Tactical Assault Gear's RAID pack... they carry the range of colors. Note on the RAID packs... the TAG version differs slightly from the ATS/Eagle packs. The TAG model omits the top straps/fastex buckles that connect the shoulder straps to the main flap of the pack (going over the top). The TAG model employs cordura instead of mesh for the interior pockets. The TAG model comes with a Source hydration bladder. It also has an extra zipper opening by the top carrying handle to access the hydration sleeve. The TAG model has 2 metal rod inserts instead of a frame insert. TAG uses a shorter, but longer rectangle shaped velcro panel whereas Eagle/ATS has a taller more squareish(but not quite) panel. The PALS webbing is set up differently... Eagle/ATS has an odd number of columns stiched in(i think its 7 on the main panel)... so if you wanted to attach a pouch with 2 attachment points/malice clips right next to each other(like a mag pouch), it would be one row off center. The TAG version has an even number... 6 or 8... I cant recall off the top of my head. This can affect your setup depending on which pouches you want to use. I've had maybe 5 different RAIDS... including the original Eagles... all are excellent, but I prefer the TAG version. I've actually found that the ATS Cobra fills my needs the best. Its big enough but not too big that its too bulky or that you end up filling it with too many things. |

A few shortcomings I've noticed: Could use either more internal organizing pockets or internal MOLLE straps to add your own pockets. I don't know how common this is but it'd be the bomb. |

Think you banned that OP bout a year or so ago because he wasn't disclosing some financial affiliation he had with a dealer. Not sure but his name aint around anymore. Might be easiest to do one thread with just one post per pack, then a link to a separate thread about that pack, otherwise the pack descriptions get broken up with pages of discussion. I have a ridiculously large number of packs I have picked up over the years. I have to admit photographing them all sounds like a bit of a pain We should probably have a format like pack purchased: date price paid: use of pack: ie military, police, hiking, commuting, hunting etc |

Might want to include some pros/cons in there too, so someone can easily make a decision at a glance. We might also considering further defining what a 3 day pack is. |

I recently acquired a TAG Sniper Bag - http://www.tacticalassaultgearstore.com/sniperpack.aspx . I haven't had time to set it up yet. I do love the amount of webbing inside and out it has. Plenty spacious too. I've never set up a bag like this before. I don't even know where to start. Mainly have it for patrol/bob/backpacking. Do any of you keep things like MREs, sleeping bags, and tents, other extended stay items in there packs? or is that over kill?
I wanna use the first smaller pocket for soft goods (every day clothing). And the second pocket for accessories (extra mags, med gear, tools and gun tools, rope, etc.) |

I've been looking for this type of thread for days, glad I finally found it before posting something in the survival forum. I'm looking for a pack to use as my first BOB; lots of info in the survival forum about what should go in one, but not a lot on the packs themselves.
I've been looking at a few: 5.11 RUSH 72 TAG Sentinel or Sniper Voodoo Tobago Condor Large Assault Pack TAG and 5.11 seem to have good reputations, not sure about Voodoo or Condor. They are definitely cheaper - not sure if that correlates to quality or if it's overseas manufacturing that gets the price down. Looking for any opinions on those, or others to consider. Is there a general rule of thumb as far as capacity goes? I read in another thread if the bag is over 3000 (or maybe 3500) cu. in., you should really have some sort of framing - is that accurate? I was between the Dust and one of the many versions of Tactical Tailor's Removable Operator Pack. I ended up rolling the dice because the Dust was just a tiny bit wider and this able to hold my ballistic panel (rectangular black thing) and it has much better organization. It's been about a year and I've abused the hell out of it and the workmanship is outstanding. Last pic has money for an idea for how compact of a pack it really is

Just got my 3-day assault pack back from Mystery Ranch. Issued in 2012 on deployment, and back in January I finally sent it in for a zipper repair. They replaced the y-zipper for the main compartment and the two zippers on the top portion, all under warranty (even though I never bought the thing myself) and even included new nylon webbing straps and buckles. There was a decent wait as they're prioritizing backcountry firefighters' gear (as well they should be) but I didn't need it for anything so I wasn't worried. I also have a NICE frame with both Crew Cab and Wolf Alpha (with a couple Pups that I use as ammo totes for the range now ) and those have been excellent (though used far less, so understandably not suffering any zipper or other wear issues at all).It isn't cheap, but the fact they'll replace the zippers almost 15 years on is pretty impressive. |
