Im scoping my 1895 trapper in .45/70 and want a rear sight in the barrel. I don’t want a receiver mounted sight as I’m going to mount a scope as close to the bore as possible. What rear sight options are there that mount on the barrel, I see that skimmer has one. Does anyone have and like it? Are there any other options? Thanks in advance. |

I have an SBL and a Trapper. On the SBL, with the longer rail I put a 1x4 Leupold in Talley QD low rings. The rear bell sits just in front of the aperture sight and doesn’t interfere with scope or crosshairs. The rail on the trapper is obviously too short to do the same setup. I have thought about adding the longer rail to the trapper and replicating that setup since it works so well. Just for clarification, I’ve had the SBL for a long time and it’s a pig to hunt with. I added the Magpul trapper for the shorter barrel and lighter weight. If I don’t find a RDS that I like I’ll probably add a 1-4 in the same manner. |
