Wanting to give 300 blk a try, but I've only been able to find AR pistols that are far more than I want to spend on a lark, and 16" bolt/single shot rifles. I know 300 blk is meant for short barrels, but would suppressing 16" rifle cheapen the experience? *Edit* To add to this, I'm talking about not finding anything in brick and mortar stores. Would prefer to buy what I can physically touch. |

Are you finding 16” .300 BLK rifles in the local stores? I built a 16” rifle with a Noveske barrel around 20 years ago. (ok, it’s technically a .300 FB barrel. The .300 BLK hadn’t been submitted/accepted by SAAMI yet, and JD Jones still holds the rights to the .300 Whisper name. But they’re all the same thing). It has a pistol-length gas system, suppresses well, cycles supers and subs, and is more accurate than most of today’s run-of-the-mill pistol or rifle uppers. Yes, I now also have short uppers on SBR lowers. They run fine too. The 16” gun is just a bit longer.

PSA is the way to go. If you’ve already got an AR you can just buy the upper from PSA for less than $200. |
