Dug out a Carbine out of the safe I bought over 20 years ago, it’s been shot very little. I never liked the birch stock, just picked up a takeoff Magpul stock off of eBay. Other than that, nothing else has been done to it. This will just be an informal plinker, no serious target work. What scope or red dot would you recommend? My 62 year old eyes need a bit of help. I don’t want anything expensive, less than a hundred would be desired, and yes, I know you get what you pay for. Thanks! |

I put a Simmons 22mag pro scope on my Henry Golden Boy and it allowed me to get 5 shots and one hole.

Bushnell 3-12 Prime on sale $76 might be a little big depending on what you want and a simple duplex reticle. A little over $100 at $116 shipped. The Hawke 2-7x32 AO mil dot is one of my favorite rimfire scopes. Clear optics, compact scope, AO, mil dot reticle. Hawke 2-7x32 AO Mildot non illuminated is $116 shipped. |

We ran those rifles all day, every day, for a week, including in some rain. We officially had 30,000 rounds of ammo, but in reality we had more than that. Not a one of the optics had a single bit of trouble, none of them wandered or lost zero. I've still got the rifles with the optics mounted, and I've still never had to rezero a single one of them. I don't know if I've even had to replace the battery on any of them yet. For a $45 optic (I paid $32 back then), they're super hard to beat. |

I have Leupold rimfire’s on my fancy 22’s. For a cheap plinking rifle just about anything would work. I have a couple of these Truglo 4x airgun/rimfire scopes (duplex) on my airguns. The folks on rimfirecentral really liked the Mueller APV scopes when I was looking for something to put on a 10/22 Target. It's just a standard crosshairs scope but it did everything I expected. I think I got it on sale from Midway for like $115. I gave the rifle to a friend but kept the scope, intending to put it on a Walmart special Savage 30-06 but I need to paint it first and haven't gotten around to it.

| LOL, I put a NF NX8 2.5-20 with a Mil-XT reticle on my insanely overbuilt TacSol 10/22 in a KRG Bravo Rimfire chassis. Rifle is honestly stupidly accurate and the NF glass sets it off perfectly. But is is WAY overbuilt for a .22 and that is way too much glass, but I have no concept of not over doing everything. |

If you ever get into PRS rimfire or NRL22 competition ( sounds like your current rifle would be just the ticket) beware. I started with a low end gun and optic to try it out and now shoot matches regularly ( my current set up is a Kidd 10/22 in KRG with vortex strike eagle) The top shooters ( or what I typically term “ cool kids”) are using rim x or vudoo rifles, with complete rigs ( gun optics/ mounts, mags,bipod) edging close to ten grand. |
