I believe it would be. This thing truly has brought the long talked-about "future" to our doorsteps right now.
Will it continue to improve with newer internals and models? Sure. But as it stands now, this little marvel has just kicked off the next chapter in NV that we've been waiting for the last 20 years. |

This looks like it might work.
All the pictures I have seen of the aurora have the 1/4-20 threaded bit inline with the square ocular viewing window. I have no idea but this is what I might recommend a friend to look into trying. It could take some light machining.

| I was really close to pulling the trigger on one of these today. I don't know exactly what it is but something is holding me back. In some ways it looks better than a GenIII PVS14 and in other ways not as good. I'd light to get into nightvision but price right now is just prohibitive for me to get a good unit. |

OK - just got mine today from Adorama
Looks smaller than I thought and much lighter too Makes an annoying chime/song when turning on though. Have to figure out how to turn that off...not very opsec Also, the front lens has zero lip to protect from bumps/scratches so I'll be looking for some sort of ARDish or clear scope flip cap to protect it? Any leads on this would be appreciated also any weapon/scope mounts to position it in line with my LPVO |

Any leads on this would be appreciated 49mm rubber hood and lens might work for the digital night vision device. I bet you can find some that have no tinting but this was as close as i found. From what I was reading about the Skylight tint, it could be beneficial for what I see when i watch videos of that unit (but I don't really have any idea.) |

There is a little bit of lag which needs to be taken into account. The screen needs to be a bit larger. Lastly the unaided light-gathering capability is just not to the level of Gen 3 and most Gen 2 I've had experience with. I just received mine. First time with anything night vision capable. This thing has lots of potential. One thing that I haven't seen mentioned is that the entire eyepiece, including the view screen remove to insert the battery and sd card. A bigger viewscreen, rubber eyepiece, or round viewscreen should all be easy to add to this unit. I roughly hung it in front of a Vortex Strike Eagle set at 1x and found it to be a very usable picture.
Mounting it behind a PA red dot seems to be workable as well, but that may take longer to figure out. I can see two of these in my future, one gun mounted, one helmet mounted. |

This little marvel definitely kicks ass. A lot of people like to overuse the phrase "game changer" to mundane and ordinary performers, but when a real game changer comes along, they often miss it entirely.
This monocular is the door kicker sent by the digital NV to start fiestas, it has definitely arrived. |

All pictures just handheld and didn't spend alot of time messing with focus. Will try and get more pictures over the weekend with and without IR and on a tripod. Above pictures no IR was used. The Twilight Mode is impressive but to me the Full Night mode is alot cleaner picture. Anyone looked into a extra battery source from Amazon? I have not yet but would like to get a few more batteries and a charger for them. |

As far as a “tactical” version, software update could easily put a reticle in there (more gun-specific than the reticle that’s in the settings already used by boaters to find horizon). | I bought a set of NP-50 batteries with a charger on Amazon for around $14 I believe. They are decent, and the charger is nice to have so you don't have to charge in the camera. I think the usable capacity is about 10-15% less than the stock battery though. If I ever need extra batteries, I will be looking for cells made in Japan instead of China. I suspect they quality might be higher for a dollar or two more. |

My 2 spare batteries should be all I'll ever need, and they are certainly small enough to fit in the change pocket of Levi's. |
