I wasn't knocking you or anything, just pointing it out to people that seem to hold the other opinion (think people are crazy for following OPSEC). And I was just saying what I would do, but that's because my collection isn't so humble, and some of them are irreplaceable so insurance doesn't do much good. |

I had a similiar Idea, but was going to just use a fridge door with some magnets to attach it to the front of safe. I also had the idea to build a wood frame and cover it with counter-top material to look like the other cabinets in my garage. Your idea is much more practical and functional, time to shop for a busted fridge to hollow out. Thanks for the post and idea! |

A fridge is normally side-by-side or has a freezer top. Either of those are going to complicate things a little bit. |

OP - Great work and something you should be proud of. Thank you for sharing.
Related to the dart board - If the hinges didn't give it away, a quick yank on the cabinet door knobs while looking for valuables would reveal the secret unless there was a pin somewhere that needed to be removed before opening. ETA: Since I'm on page 4 I might as well add a link to what made me think of the pin idea. Check out archer2's post. |

It also helps if that item is serving the purpose that it appears it is supposed to serve. If it's a cabinet, the doors better open and there better be things stored inside. |

If you work at the Chobee PD and drive that white Charger (city vehicle, right?) back and forth to work, I would have to imagine that it would be pretty easy for anyone to simply follow you home. Might take them a day or so, but they wouldn't even have to knock on any doors... I think this is why some here are trying to caution you and others about what you post online and share with the world.

Nearly all of my personal info is public record anyway and I've accepted that its just a trade-off of working in law enforcement. Besides, I'm what you would call a hard target, not something %99.999 of badguys are looking for. If that %0.0001 sees this thread, travels to Okee FL, figures out which dept. I work for, follows me home, etc., he will be sorely disappointed with my humble collection. That is, if he makes it that far. ETA: Thank you to everyone who has posted positive comments. In the event one was observant enough to catch it, it is enclosed enough to the point of creating a lot of work...unless of course that particular home invader was the Danny Ocean type, in which case he wouldn't be a home invader. Both camo jobs look great. I simply have a 70 sq/ft room guarded by a steel door...no creativity  but it would be a bitch to get into, and even more of a bitch to get anything out. Great job...both of you guys.

I'm trying to figure out a way to use it but the light housing got cut out. maybe have the light switch in the freezer wired into your home alarm system like a window pin switch just to always make sure it is closed as the alarm will not arm with it open |

Why even make an attempt if it's going to be half-assed? I'm not saying that the safe has to be hidden. I'm saying that if you're going to try to hide it then don't half-ass the hiding job. My vault door is 100% hidden, no exterior hinges, latches, etc that would give it away. You would have to know where the vault is to even have a clue of where you need to go to get in. A thief could literally spend hours in my house and walk right past the vault several times and never know it is there. Going back to the half-assed job I commented about, lets consider what a safe is used for. It is used to stop a smash-and-grab thief. The only person that particular "hiding job" could fool is a smash and grab thief any other person would notice that immediately. A hiding job is meant to hide the safe/vault from a person that plans to be there longer/more thorough. The pictured hiding job won't help at all. The person that did that may as well just leave the safe out in the open. Do you follow me? BTW, the OP's hiding job is fantastic, hide it in plain sight. If you're going to go through the process of hiding it, do it right.
