Howdy. What suppressors are you folks using on your .50s? I'm looking at a Serbu BFG-50 and a can to go on it. I'm presuming the stock muzzle device can be removed. Cheers! |

Big price difference between the three. I love my Thunder Beast Ultra 9 and prefer to buy local, but $5400+ is a bit much if a sub $2k option is going to perform similarly. No, I don't plan to pinch pennies on a .50 cal. arrangement, but $2500 or so price difference means a good bit of ammo. |

I had an AAC Cyclops. Really quiet. Sounded like a suppressed 308. But the recoil was brutal. I stopped shooting my bolt actions suppressed because I thought I was going to detach a retina. Enter the Thunderbeast 50 suppressor. I had been bugging Shane and Ray for 15+ years to make me a 50 can and they finally did. Mild recoil, light weight, modular and quiet. Money (lots of it) well spent.

I went with the Barrett QDL because it’s a plug n play option for the 107 and I didn’t feel like voiding my warranty with another brand. Really tames the .50 down, and makes it where I actually enjoy shooting my 107 instead of being a toy that gets brought to simply make noise. Attached File |

| Dillon just released their DRC 50 suppressor. It's the first purposefully induced porosity (PIP) 50 cal suppressor I've seen, and the reviews on other PIP cans are outstanding so I'm verrrry interested in buying one, but right now the Dillon website is only showing a 1"-14 thread adapter. And according to the internet Barret threads their fifties to 7/8"-14. I have a call in to Dillon to see if they're making Barret thread adapters. |

I just posted this in another thread, but I have the AWC THOR TURBODYNE TI can, and it's definitely hearing safe for the shooter. I quite like it, but it's direct thread FWIW. It is $1750 from Silencer Central and I run it on my HM Defense 50. I asked them for a digital finger print copy on one of my past orders, and the past few cans I bought were shipped to my door in like 3-4 weeks. The worst part of the whole process was having someone be home to sign for the delivery. I'm very please with it for a "shits and giggles" kind of purchase. |

| I have been back and forth on this. My experience with the Qdl was that it did a great job with blast and concussion and was reasonably quiet but I also think it made the recoil much much worse. Even for a semi auto it fell pretty intense. I have been looking at the thunder beast ultra 50 as its replacement. I’m having a hard time pulling the trigger with that price tag. Sometimes I think it’s not worth it to suppress the 50a but I still want to do it. |

Guardian Defense GDM50 I went this way after starting down the rabbit hole toward a Rex Silentium. Desert Tech had just done a bunch of testing on BMG cans and this one performed very well. It allows me to run a brake when not suppressed, and according to Desert Tech and Guardian Defense, does a good job of mitigating recoil. Mine is in NFA jail…and I’m switching rifles to a Cadex Quake…but I’m hoping to be operational with this within the month. |

The suppressor went onto the quake easily. Initial impressions on the quake are very positive. Trigger is good, and the stock feels better than I expected. I have the Turbodyne IIRC, and it is hearing safe IMHO. But I also don't think the recoil is that bad with a bolt-action .50 (29" barrel, gun weighs 29lbs without accessories). It has recoil for sure, just that I don't consider it to be punishing by any stretch- so I might be retarded. Anyway, I do like the Turbodyne - and they are down to about $1k on silencer central, so IMHO that will be tough to beat. It really sounds good. I can easily hear the metal plates ring at 50 yards (safe angle, don't clutch your pearls, ARFCOM) over the suppressed .50 |

The 1st gen Barrett suppressor was hearing safe. But it was around 3.5" in diameter and around 20" or so in length. The subsequent ones weren't hearing safe. I always thought that was odd to go backwards. |

Picked up the Tbac ultra50 today. It is comically huge. And surprisingly light. Still sad about the ax50 b&t can. I'm going to try to shoot it next week. With a proof 18" barrel. Debating sending the 27" barrel to mile high and getting a mount for it. I dont have anywhere to really get the benefit of the longer barrel and the shorty is way more handy. Attached File |

Switched from an ar50a1. So far the Quake / GDM combo looks like a winner. It sounds good and does not add felt recoil. I’ve only gotten it out once, but I am pleased with it thus far. |
