I've got a Ruger American Ranch in .300 BLK and it has been a nightmare from a feeding standpoint. I'd like to take another stab in a different platform. I see the How mini actions and then have debated rolling my own build with an action/prefit which I've had success with on .223 and 8.6 builds. Are AICS mags reliable feeding subsonic .300 BLK? |

My Remington 700 in .300 Blk has never had an issue. |

Howa may be a good choice… Or, to be contrarian, have you ever considered a single shot? Equally quiet, shorter overall, inexpensive, and the bergara barreled CVAs can be super accurate (mine is). Build a straight pull ar15. You can build it how you see fit and spend as much or as little as you want. I tossed this toy together with spare parts and Tennessee arms plastic lower. It’s stupid fun and everyone that shoots it has a smile on their face.  Specs for the build: 6” ballistic advantage 300 blackout barrel with gas port welded shut. Some cheap barrel nut I turned down on the lathe. Cut a notch in barrel nut and made a custom wrench for it. Tennessee arms plastic lower. Has brass inserts for the buffer tube and grip screw. Slick side upper receiver. Cheap BCG I cut the back half off. KaliKey installed on the BCG. B5 23 degree grip. Swampfox red dot. Pic rail adapter plug. The KaliKey makes it easy and you don’t have to cut a slot in the side of the upper receiver and thread the BCG for a charging handle. |

But I have to ask you guys that have one, how hard is it to open? Mine you practically have to beat with a hammer to pull the lever back some times. Also the receiver finish is rough on mine. Is it like that for all of them? |

What mags are you using? My buddy and I have matching RAR 300 BLK and have never had a single issue with thousands of rounds through 300 BLK P-Mags and 300 BLK lancers. |

Went to tipped bullets (vmax and palmetto state 110s) and no more problems. He also said lancers were smoothest mags. He did some wet/dry oiled sandpaper to the bolt and cycled the action a lot and I can confirm it runs smooth. He said the open tip winchester stuff still won't feed right and he burnt it all up single feeding to harvest the brass. |

@outrider I had issues in the beginning (there is probably my posts in the big RAR thread. I can't remember precisely the issue, but feeding hang-ups, your same issue, and general rough feeding. Plus the zipper bolt noise. I very slowly cycled the bolt and looked where the hang-up was, I was able to see drag marks and that told me where to look. I smoothed out the metal feed lips on the underside, I also deburred the edge of the feed ramps. I also took a stone to the bolt and smoothed the micro-ridges left by machining. this took care of the issues 100%. Also these bolts like to be run hard and fast. It's my first center fire bolt gun so I don't know is this is normal or not, or maybe a byproduct of using AR mags? |

I want to be clear, it isn't the barrel opening that is the issue. It is the lever you pull to open it. Cuz someone asked that. It is like the the lever is grinding/catching on something when I pull back. An it is inconsistent. Some times it will, some times it won't. Some of those times are worse then others. | I picked up a savage bolt gun in 300 with a 5 round mag, proprietary though. The one thing I wish it had was better extraction, sometimes the spent brass doesn’t always come out. |

Doubtful, The current version is plagued with complaints and is listed at 1600 bucks.  OP, have you looked at a CVA Cascade? I don't know much about them but they get good reviews and fall in the $700 range. |

Love my Ruger and I've not had any feeding issues Though I've only put 100 rounds max through it Have you reached out to Ruger seeing what they say? I've read their CS is very good |

I am hoping Beretta releases a 300 BO kit for the BRX. I purchased mine in the .308 Ranch configuration and have already added a 300 Win Mag kit. The easy ability to swap calibers & configure for left handed shooting were main considerations when purchasing the BRX. |

Rounds just smash underneath the bore. I found that running the bolt hard is good, the harder the better; run that bolt like it owes you money. I also smoothed the feed ramp edges, that seemed to help quite a bit. I was a bit disappointed at first but after changing tactics I no longer worry about it. |

Sucks getting old.  Send me the link. Same username here as there.I did send it in but I don't know if they got 100% what I was saying as they seemed to mainly work on the hinging. Super smooth and all that. Kinda don't like it as it feels like it breaks open so fast(a bit to easy) and that it will damage itself. Wonder how it will wear in now over the life. The lever still occasionally gets stuck but when it does it isn't as hard to open. A lot better overall. Need to take it back out again when I can. The local range I liked going to closed down and most near me are pistol only indoor ranges, so I am a bit sad. Boy do I miss the farm.
