Here is what I am deciding. I am a LEFTY. Shoot 70+ pounds and have about a 28" draw. Current bow is a Cabelas branded Bear single cam that I have upgraded over the last few years with new strings slider single pin QAD drop away stabilizers etc. I have been shooting for the past 3 years and have found I am out shooting my bow on targets and TAC event this year showed me I need more speed to get out to some of the targets. Currently looking at 2 options as I don't wanna break the bank and want to be able to use the accessories I have to save some money. 2025 Bear White Tail INT -NEW bare bow that will take basically everything directly over $581 2021 Matthews V3 31 inch- currently set at 70lb and 27 draw so I may have to get draw mod changed. Does include a QAD drop away since it is different for Matthews. I can move all the other stuff over. Guy is asking $600 but I think I can get it a little less but would have to maybe buy a set of MODS for it. |

The Mathews with 27" mods will very likely measure closer to 27.5", so if you are a solid 28" draw new mods would be in your future. Solid bow, about the only issue would be the axle or avs bearing going bad on you as mathews uses cheap chinese bearings, still a solid bow that you will always be able to get parts for it if needed. The bear is a good bow as well, may want to look at the alaskan as well. And realize the 2026 bows are starting to trickle out so last years bows should go for a discount. |

The new 2026 alaskan that now has the faster EKO2 cam is very appealing. The longer ATA would be great for TAC. It also maintains a great price point. I Think I may need to focus on the whitetail INT or the Alaskan Pro. The Alaskan having a few more "target" features. |

If it were me, I’d lean toward the V3 31 assuming it’s in good shape. You’re already shooting well, and the Matthews is going to give you a noticeable jump in efficiency, speed, and forgiveness compared to the older Bear single cam. The mod swap isn’t a big deal, especially since you’re close on draw length already, and Matthews mods are easy to source. At your draw length and weight, the V3 will really shine at distance and feel more stable on TAC-style shots. The new Bear Whitetail INT is a solid bow for the money and a safe choice, but it’s more of a budget-friendly step forward rather than a real performance upgrade. Since you’ve already outgrown your current bow, I think you’d outgrow the Whitetail sooner than later too. If you can get the V3 price down a bit and budget for the mods, it’s probably the better long-term move, especially for longer-range shooting. |
