I would like to pick up a crossbow just b/c I want one. However, I don't want a piece of crap. I want it to be somewhat useful should SHTF or something. I know I will
, rarely, if ever use it LOL. I'd like to keep it under $150. |

Your budget is very low for a good crossbow. I bought a new crossbow last year for deer hunting and I went with the Barnett Wildcat C5 with teh scope that had something like five sets of cross hairs. Mine also came with the cable puller/crank but I don't use it as I think it is a PITA unless you are too weak to pull a 150-lb bow back. It shoots amazingly fast and accurate. I can shoot a 5-inch group at 60-yards which is were I have my bottom cross hair set as a maximum range for me at a deer. I paid about $350 for mine as I recall and it may not be as good as some that can cost 3x as much but it is more then good enough for me! For half the price, you really may not like the performance you get.

Wildcat is a nice one for the price.
I went with the wickedridge model made by ten point, but it is out of your price range as well. Your best bet would be to look for a used one, up your budget, or get a lower quality crossbow since it will not be used much. |

Have you tried e-bay and the like with your price range? Used is probably the way to go here. |

at $150.00 your not going to get much!

I think you are going to have a real hard time finding one for $150, even used. It is hard to even find any selling used. I have been looking at the Barnett Jackal, with shipping you can get it for around $250. |

you guy's might want to do a search on ebay. x force 850 or carbon express 850. $399.00+shipping. a friend just bought another one.
his first was fine, he just thought the closeout price was to good to pass up. bow,scope quiver,arrows, yada,yada. His look's like a Darton to me. myself I own Excaliburs and they have served me well bill's $399.00 xbow. quiver not mounted

All set to hunt, just add broadheads. Actually, I gave it to a friend, but he insisted on paying me something. Keep your eye on the EE. |
