I was looking at my old parts and I have 3 complete trigger kits (ar-15) that I have removed over the years due to malfunctioning ie double fires as I recall. All of the sears show wear some worse than others. My question is are there any parts I should keep ie pins, springs, etc before I throw it all away or a bad trigger is a bad trigger and just start fresh. No I did not do the polishing but some looked like botched trigger jobs to me.

| Imo a trigger is to critical to have to piece together. I will have basic complete milspec trigger on hand before throwing parts and pieces at one to repair one that's failed in the field or otherwise. |

Keep them and tune your disconector... Your timing is most likely, off. Cock that FCG, and SLOWLY release the trigger. S L O W L Y ! If the hammer falls, you need more purchase at the disconnector's tip.. Stone the tail to give more tip rotation. a little at a time, is all that's needed. ETA- the trigger on the left went WAY too far, it's junk Middle one is almost junk. Right one is salvageable |

Two part problem and the double problem is the disco has too much free gap between the disco hook and rear of hammer hook with the trigger untouched, when disco is over cocked past disco hook/ will be releasing the hammer too soon on trigger release/ So to correctly time the disco so you only have .003" between the two sear on over cock, its the front of the disco where it rests on top of the front of trigger, that enough material needs to be removed their, to close the free gap up to .003" As for trigger front sears The problem with re-machining and harden them to get them square again, is with the sear surface moved towards the trigger pin channel, this means that the hammer will be retained higher in lower by the trigger, and can cause all kinds of problems. So hammer to the right, was already being held slightly higher to begin with, and can see where the firing pin stop collar was already making contact with it as the carrier was moving back forward. Refacing the trigger sear that went with that hammer, will just have the hammer now retained higher, to cause even more problems. As for the basement hack job on the left trigger a total mess, and if someone was trying to do a trigger job, all three triggers show that all three hammer bottom sear has way too much engagement to start with. So trigger on right, trash for the most part*, middle and left trigger, may be able to be saved. Hammers look to be fine, and should be able to re reworked for correct trigger jobs on rigs. * Say most part, since could still be faced/rehardened, and used for lightweight speed hammer in the end. |
