I'm building a 12" or so 6.5 grendel pistol.  It will be to carry in vehicle on longer trips and on a very rare occasion for hunting.  Will not use suppressor.     On my longer grendel rifles that I mostly shoot on the bench i've used brake.   Not sure I want a loud as all getout brake on a short grendel.   Thoughts?    Muzzle Brake or Flash hider.  Leaning flash hider given the sound and the relatively low recoil of the grendel to begin with.

iirc i put asr f/h s on all three of mine. 12"x2 and an 18" but i shoot them suppressed all the time

The concussive blast from a brake on an SBR is incredibly obnoxious. I get that it serves a purpose, but it makes shooting the rifle far from enjoyable.

I’m using A-2 Flash Hider on my threaded barrel AR-15’s including my 12” 6.5 Grendel.   I have a 20” Shilen 6.5 Grendel AR-15 and Cz 527 24” 6.5 Grendel with plain muzzles which are pleasant to shoot.

I'd just buy an A2. No reason to spend more. Use the $80 you saved to take the ol' lady to dinner. Unsuppressed brakes are loud. Fancy flash hiders that aren't suppressor mounts aren't necessary. A2 is the answer

I put a BRT covert comp on my 12 inch grendel and couldn't be happier.  Very little recoil and basically no blast.
