Now that Michigan has removed the limited firearm zone I want to deer hunt this year using my LMT MARS-H in 6.5 Creedmoor. Never shot it much but want to take it out and use it. I don't reload so I'd need to be able to use factory ammo. I prefer high BC bullets and from what I understand some of those won't fit in the AR-10 mags. I have all PMAG SR25 M118LR mags for it. I've read the Berger 156gr are a no-go in AR-10s due to the bullet length. Not sure about the Berger 140s. Will the Hornady ELD-X fit fine in a SR25 mag? I'd also be open to purchasing mags that could accept longer bullets (not sure if Lancers do). Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
| AR-10 Pmags have a max OAL of 2.83”, Hornady loads the ELD-X/M to 2.8” I believe. But your BC is truly not going to matter at the ranges that you’ll likely be shooting deer. Longest shot I’ve taken so far in Michigan is ~360yds. BC won’t really have an impact until you’re out past 600 or so and that’s beyond the capabilities of 99.9% of hunters. |

I’ll try them out in a LR118 pmag tonight.
