I’ve got 2 8.3/8.5 300BLk rifles that are pretty much all V7 parts - crazy lightweight, nice ass tuned-to-perfection 100% reliable rifles that I shoot the crap out of. But I’ve got an itch to buy a factory 300BLK rifle. I’d buy a Knights rifle, but they pulled out of the 300BLK biz. BCM’s looks pretty nice and lightweight while being typical reliable BCM, although probably not the most accurate (not a huge deal on a 100yd rifle.) Does SOLGW make a nice 300BLK rifle? I’m not seeing one on their website. Too bad they don’t have a MK1 in 300BLK! I’m so over Noveske at this point I don’t think I could do it, plus they’re typically boat anchor heavy. Any ideas? Anybody know how the BCM is gassed? Can it shoot subs/supers/suppressed/unsuppressed out of the box? Griffin makes one but it’s a bit on the heavier side. Nice thing about Griffin is I wouldn’t have to yank off the mount - you get to pick your own. |

I have built several 300blk ARs that work perfectly and are the configuration I want. I don't think any factory ARs provide enough added value for me to buy one However, the SIG rattler is a sweet little package that folds down and offers as much firepower as possible in a package that small. And you can't build a comparable configuration that is as sturdy and sleek. I love the 5.5" barrel of the original version. The 6.75" barrel of the newer generation is still compact but it's not as purpose-built. Attached File |

You seem a bit obsessed with weight, and the following does not really take that into account, so take it fwiw. These are what I'd recommend based on the ones I've owned: BCM (9"): I've got thousands of rounds through two uppers, and "they just work". Accurate for a 300blk, consistent, reliable, well gassed, has enough rail space to be normally functional... does all the things. Drop it straight into the role of a Mk18 and it's a better mousetrap. Geissele (8"): I bought the 8" phased array barrel and put it in a built mutt upper. So far, no issues, mostly the same comments as the BCM, I just don't have nearly as much ammo through it yet. I got two 7" rails that turned out to have interference with suppressors, so finding the right rail for it can be slightly tricky. I settled on a Midwest SP handguard (designed to clear suppressors, so no interference), which is light, so it is pretty light. This obviously wouldn't be an issue on the full G upper or rifle with the custom length Mk16 rail. Gassing seems great; the phased array so far so good. 7" rail still has enough space for a "normal" front end accessory config for me, however, I notice my front grip is brought in slightly from "normal" on a SBR.... its getting short. Rattler LT 6.75": Like the G, I don't have a ton of ammo through it yet, but enough for initial impressions; it runs well with supers on low gas, and subs on high gas. You do have to remember to flip between them for good functionality. Rail space is really limited; your forward grip is pulled in noticeably, and I'm currently looking for the best way for me to get a light on the front end, as there isn't enough room for my normal light setup. So far, I have not been able to get the same level of accuracy as the BCM, but will be testing further. It of course shines as a super compact/bag gun; with a minimalist stock folded and suppressor detached, it is very compact and can legit be thrown into most any bag or even the center console of my truck. It will fit in most any medium size bag even with the can attached and stock folded. I like it for this specialized ability/PDW role, but if I was going to grab something to actually shoot all day, it would not be this. Obviously the suppressor can be tucked with the right handguard on any of these if you are into that sort of thing. The benefits and drawbacks of that, I'll leave for a different thread. Note: None of these will run subs unsuppressed, nor would I want them to. 1) the only reason to shoot subs is suppressed. If its going to be loud anyway, you might as well get supersonic performance. 2) if it is set up to shoot subs unsuppressed, it is going to be brutally overgassed/violent shooting supers in any configuration. I want to be able to shoot supers suppressed/unsuppressed, and subs suppressed, and that is how these are gassed to work. |

^^ Yep, weight is always top of mind - why wouldn’t it be. Lighter guns point faster. I don’t like needless weight where weight makes no sense. Don’t compromise on strength, rigidity, reliability and/or barrel profile. Every else can go. Big heavy billet stuff looks pretty but isn’t necessary. It’s why I’m struggling pulling the trigger on a MK1 right now. Not sure how much longer I can hold out, lol. I think the billet monolithic stuff is cool but it comes with a hefty weight premium. If a tank drives over my rifle, I’m ok with it getting destroyed. I shouldn’t have let a tank drive over it. KAC’s KS line is right on the edge of my limit. Noveske? Forget it. Tons of useless weight where it doesn’t need to be. The BCM keeps things pretty milspec and the barrel profile is still thick enough for heat / rate of fire concerns. The MCMR rails are fairly proven at this point and are on the lighter side. Thanks for the feedback - I’ll take a look at the G and DD rifles too. Cannot stand that stock DD furniture - not a big use to swap. |

One problem with the MCMR on 300blk is there is not enough space to get an Mlok nut between the rail and the gas block (even with a below flush bolt), if you want to put a vertical grip there like I do. My BCM therefore has the QRF quad rail (my last quad rail upper) but it is not the lightest, so this will not be the one you want. Same with any Spear LT variant as far as the weight goes; they are not the lightest. I don't know if the MK16 would have the same issue or not. The Midwest SP suppressor handguard is light and has all the clearance you need for anything, but then you wouldn't be getting your "factory" rifle, so, priorities. I should probably swap the QRF for a Midwest SP. If you're happy with the ones you have, it might be best to just stick with those. |

I know I will get flamed because of KB is a jerk but the Q Honey Badger is everything you say you want other than its a 7" barrel. It is 4.8 lbs plus its just sexy.

By far the gassiest .300 I have. For the record, I’m using the same Maxim Defense stock and spring that comes on the factory DD, only the lower is different. For comparison, I also have a Maxim Defense 8.5” and a Gemtech 8” (aka S&W Axe), and neither are near as gassy as the DD. I really like the Gemtech, which is now sold under the S&W Axe branding. |
