Pretty random, I know, but here are the actual weights of a TA01 NSN, factory ACOG mount, and Geissele mount. I have a RMR HD as well that I just weighed at 1.7 oz, but I still don't have the actual piggyback mount to weigh along with it, unfortunately. Still need to order one... 15.2 oz measured vs. 15.6 oz listed on the Trijicon website. 14.2 oz w/ the G mount is getting pretty skimpy. The RMR HD setup will add ~2 oz, but I'm comfortable ditching the KAC folding irons at this point and shedding 3-4 oz there to make up for the RMR and then some. ACOGs are proven to be mechanically reliable, and it looks like there's an option to run a ghost ring style backup iron sight off the side of the piggyback mount itself if I really need irons. Anyhow, I was just curious what these components really weighed so thought I'd share what I found.  ACOG 4x (TA01NSN) - 10.9 oz  factory ACOG mount (w/ screws) - 4.3 oz  Geissele Super Precision ACOG mount (w/ screws) - 3.3 oz

I love the TAO1NSN and prefer it over any ACOG which have other reticules. However, the peep on top is so coarse as to be useless. Also, For some time I ran an RMR on top but as I shot more I grew to hate that because of needing different head positions for each. When presenting the rifle I would have to decide which sight I was going to use and have my head in the proper position for it. I went to mounting the RMR (or small other dot, or irons) offset and like that much much better. Another issue with the RMR on top was the huge height over bore and the associated issues of POA/POI. |

ACOG’s are slim and trim and still incredibly capable. 40 years old and still valid. I still love my TA50/RMR. Under 11 ounces with an ADM mount. Attached File |
