Anyone got one of these and is willing to share his opinion? Usually I try to stay away from chinese optics, however I've had a look through some other Strike Eagle 1-6 or 1-8 and it didn't look all that bad. I'm mostly interested in the optical performance around the entire magnification range, and of course especially at 10x. Optics I've used (for snob comparison baseline): Bushnell LRTS, Leica Amplus, Leupold MK4 (the old ones, not the new MK4s) This is supposed to get used on a 12.5 SBR and maybe a 20" SPR both in 556. Intended use targets out to 300+ or whatever the barrel facilitates, maybe hunting within 200yd. |

The offshore stuff has really gotten better. I don’t know about that one, but I bought the griffin 1x10 import last year when they were under 500. 34mm tube, so I bought their 34mm mount they make. That is a very nice optic, better image than my Leo. MR/T . It is a SFP. Attached File |

| I have the 1-8. Not a lot of rounds through it yet. Mostly keep it set on 2X. Love it. A friend with multiple scopes high and lower end says this one is not as good at high X as the premium ones but good enough and surprising better at low X and close low light than many higher priced ones |

Thanks for the feedback. The few clips on youtube are not really helpful. Probably to new on the market. Recently removed my Bushy LRTS in the Larue LT104 for the first time after years, and as I grabbed the rifle it was like: goddamit, how come this thing is soo light...? Weighted glass & mount: 37 oz!!! And this is only the 3-12. The 4.5-18 on my bolt gun is probably exceeding 40... So I think I'm done with leadbricks and open to compromise. The Eotech Vudu 4-12x36 has my attention, with a lot of compromises to swallow for 16 oz. And the new PA PLX 1-5-12 is also a tough alternative with almost 3x the $ Yeah, I know... "..get both..." pay twice, cry twice... ;-) |

I can only tell you about the gen 1 Vortex 1-4. It was an absolute pos. I sent it in, and they said, yeah this one isn't right, and sent me another one. I mounted it up, and it was just as bad except one of the turrets was ok for it's price range. Poor ability to capture / gather light, very poor. In conditions that I could shoot without using a light in my back yard with other scopes( foxes, coons etc ), I had to use a light. Turrets were sloppy, bend click, bend bend click, touch and click twice. They were mushy. Field of view was bad compared to others in its price range. The distance between my eye and the lens had to be shortened by about an inch and a half to be able to get a clear image. Everything was the same on both except the second one had one good turret. I mounted the scope on my rifle, but after looking through it, and shooting a few rounds, I could see it wasn't any better, so I sold it. I sold it after mounting it for about two hours. I can't recommend them, but it is years later, and they've improved from what I've heard. I just can't personally recommend without having shot one of the ones you're looking at. Vortex, if you'd like to send me one to test, I'm willing, and I'll ship it back. If I keep it, I'll pay for it, but that's where I'm at. My last experience was so bad. The Vortex products in the higher end range aren't bad. I have a couple of friends with the newer higher end scopes and I've shot them. Those I can recommend. |

| You can disregard everything I said. I just went and looked, and these are much, much better than what they were selling at the time I bought mine. These look nice, and I'm sure they function well. My experience was from more years ago than I remembered, when they were just starting out with their scope lines. I haven't paid much attention to them since because my experience was so horrid. These look to be nice scopes for the money. |
