EuroOptic has a screaming deal, $1200 for the LVPO, including a mount and other accessories. There is very little information online about this reticle, but I found something on Reddit that says it was made for the "75th Ranger Regiment. It has 1/2 MOA capped turret adjustments and an MRAD reticle/BDC intended for a 14.5” barrel chambered in 5.56."  If correct, that's pretty specific. I'm not that knowledgeable with BDC type reticles, would it work with a 16" barrel if I dope'd it? How mind boggling would it be with the markings in MRAD, and adjustments in MOA?  Is that why it's a screaming deal?

eta link and AI info.

Honestly I don't trust AI's answers, but I checked with Google's AI anyway after posting this, and this is what it had to say.   Thoughts?

While the Vortex EBR-7F reticle is mathematically optimized for a 14.5" barrel, the "real-world" impact of switching to a 16" barrel is minimal:
Negligible Velocity Gap: Moving from a 14.5" to a 16" barrel typically adds only 40–60 feet per second (fps). At 300–400 yards, this results in a vertical point-of-impact shift often smaller than the thickness of the reticle's own hash lines.
Practical Accuracy: For hitting man-sized targets or 10-inch steel plates out to 500 yards, the slight increase in velocity actually makes the trajectory a bit flatter, which "forgives" small ranging errors.
Ammunition Matters More: The specific load you choose (e.g., 55gr M193 vs. 77gr OTM) will have a much larger impact on whether the BDC lines up perfectly than the 1.5-inch difference in your barrel length.

In short, unless you are engaging in high-level precision competition where fractions of an inch matter at 600 yards, the Razor HD Gen II-E will perform exceptionally well on a 16" carbine.

Regarding the odd turrets being in 1/2" MOA and reticle in MRAD.

Because this is a Second Focal Plane (SFP) scope with a Bullet Drop Compensation (BDC) reticle, you are not meant to do math conversions between MOA and MRAD in the field. Instead, follow these three steps:
Zero the Turrets (Ignore MRAD): Go to the range and zero your rifle at 200 yards (the recommended distance for this BDC). Use the Vortex Razor HD Gen II-E's 1/2 MOA turrets to move your group until it hits the bullseye. At this stage, do not look at the MRAD marks; just turn the dials until the rifle is zeroed.
Reset to Zero: Once zeroed, loosen the turret's set screws and reset the physical dial to "0" so you have a baseline. Put the caps on and don't touch the turrets again.
Use the Reticle for Everything Else: For targets beyond 200 yards, use the EBR-7F MRAD/BDC hash marks in the glass to hold over. You don't need to know that 1 MRAD equals ~3.44 MOA because you are simply placing the appropriate reticle line on the target.
Why the "Mismatch" Exists
The reason Vortex used this combination for the Ranger Regiment contract is purely functional:
MOA Turrets: 1/2 MOA clicks are intuitive for fine-tuning a zero (roughly 1/2 inch at 100 yards).
MRAD Reticle: MRAD is the global standard for military communication. If a spotter says you are "point 5 Mils left," you can instantly see that 0.5 MRAD mark on your reticle and hold off, rather than trying to calculate clicks on a dial.

I dont see where it says it’s MRAD maybe I missed it. I don’t see how a reticle could
be a BDC for a 556 AND be MRAD, unless it’s just the windage that’s in Mils. I don’t think the moa adjustments would be a big deal for that scope once it’s zeroed.  Yeah it’s not ideal but you’re not going to be dialing the turrets for elevation.  Lots of the old leupolds came that way with mil dot reticles until someone realized it was dumb. As far as the bdc, those things are rarely ever perfect and you still have to account for bullet weight, as well as barrel length.

Sorry, I was editing my post with AI info and think I finished after you replied.  I didn't catch the MRAD/MOA mix from the item description, but it was pointed out in the same Reddit thread I found. If the AI is correct, the reason for the mix between the two works fine for me because MOA is what I've always used to site in a rifle.  I'm very close to pulling the trigger on this deal and I'm trying to talk myself into it.

It's a good but not great deal - Sportman's Warehouse has the JM-1 reticle with no mount for $1000.

Might be a better choice if you want a particular reticle or mount.

The fps difference is negligible, especially considering all barrels shoot faster/slower and you’ll be using different ammo loaded to a different spec, and won’t be shooting at exact ranges anyway?

It’s going to be completely lost in the wash. If you’re shooting anything vaguely close, it’ll be fine.

The MOA/MIL thing doesn’t matter either. It’s a BDC scope. You’re only using the turrets for your initial zero. They could be measured in centipedes per furlong and it’ll still be fine.

Never take gun advice from Reddit. Be confidently sure it’s ill informed and likely autistic.

The bulk of their shooters play with and pontificate about rifles, far more than actually shoot them…completely unlike here.

I pulled the trigger and bought it. After seeing the price from Sportsman's Warehouse, it was the mount that sold it for me. I mostly shoot whatever ammo is cheap, available and sold by the case, so I'll be shooting a lot of Prvi with it.     Thanks guys.

It’s a 50/200 BDC for M855A1 out of a 14.5” barrel, so any hot 62gr 5.56 should get pretty close. With a 16” barrel, you’d just hit a little high at distance, not really enough to worry about. It’s a BDC, the point is to put rounds on a torso-sized target quickly, without needing to do much figuring. Adjustments are in MOA because it’s a BDC, not a MIL reticle, and every other fucking thing the Army has uses MOA adjustments.

The bottom MIL setup is for ranging purposes, that’s it. There’s a 40” auto ranging segment on the left side. It’s got wind holds and leads for moving targets. The scope comes with nice, simple instructions that explain the reticle’s functions, and you can look up more information on it at Vortex’s website, including the subtensions.

If you’re using something other than 62gr and feeling squirrelly, run the numbers through a ballistic calculator and adjust your zero distance to something sensible. It’ll take you maybe twenty minutes to figure out, look up your preferred cartridge and either chrono or guesstimate your velocity, plug the numbers in and figure out where you need to zero to have sensible holds, then draw up a range card. Or several, if you’ve got other cartridges in mind.

Here’s the scope on Vortex’s site

It’s $1200 with a good 1.54” mount already installed, flip caps, throw lever, bag, and other silly bullshit. Unless you want a different height mount, it’s everything you need, and saves you having to level the scope.

With everything the reticle provides, it really is the best optic on the market for a general purpose rifle, you can’t get any better without dropping at least another $500, but even then, you’re going to end up with a worse 1X experience because all the other options are FFP, with more long range oriented reticles that necessitate the use of illumination, while also having shit battery life. The only exception is the Kahles 1-6, which is lighter, but that doesn’t have as useful a reticle.

Speaking of, the illumination is diffractive, which is how they have an etched reticle with the same brightness as a fiber wire one. It’s normally a very expensive feature in premium optics, I was a little surprised to see this scope available for about the same price as standard Razors. Same illumination levels and battery life, so power levels 4 to 6 should be good enough for most use cases, you can expect a few hundred hours of useful illumination.

The reticles are available in the chairgun elite dope app.

I switched from the JM-1 to this. Look for one on the used market, or get the eurooptic package and sell the mount to offset.

I took it to the range last weekend and sighted in first at 50 yds, then confirmed at 200. The MOA adjustment was like every other optic I own, so it was normal for me, and nothing to re-learn. I was using Winchester Q3131 (steel core ammo is not permitted at my local range), so at 200 yards I was getting groups at ~4" - 6", but I didn't measure my groups other than to hold them to my chest.    I only used the red dot and not the subtensions, I just wanted to get it on paper at the range and now I'll take it out to the desert and get it figured out. It's mounted on a new rifle, and I want to run M855 to see how it does.

I bought it from EuroOptic and it came pre-installed on the mount and I simply bolted it on, no leveling.  The red dot is very bright and the glass is clear and bright, I was happy with my range experience and am looking forward to shooting again this weekend.  So far I'm very happy with my purchase.  Thanks guys.

It's a cool optic but the BDC is a bit crazy. It's designed for M855A1 at 2950 FPS iirc. Almost no "normal" civilian ammo does that, even M855A1 now barely does that. The funny thing is Rangers have been seen using them on 11.5s which is not the barrel length it was calibrated for. Overall cool optic and a good price if you true it to a loading.

It’s BDC, meaning it’ll never be true unless you use the same ammo at the same temp at the same altitude, etc.. The reticle offers so much more than just BDC.

It works great for my 14.5 with AAC 77gr zeroed at 50 yards. It also worked great with some Fiocchi 55gr shit. Attached File

Just got one of these myself. Iv'e had several razors over the years, and I like this one the best. As for the glass? We all know about the glass so I'm not gonna get into that, it's awesome of course.

I'm going to try to get it out this week and zero it at 50 with my load and see where it's at. I'm also going to plug it into the Stelok app beforehand because I already know my velocities and BC of my load.

Before I purchased this I was expecting the illumination  not to be nowhere near as bright as the Razors wired reticle, but that is absolutely one 1000% wrong.  It is just as bright, nuclear bright.

My only complaint so far is that they dogged it on the mounting.. It was level  but the rings on one side were completely closed with absolutely no gap and the other side had a gap. Being that it was level already I loosened the ring caps one at a time and evened the gap on both sides. Another minus was as I was loosening the screws to straighten out the rings the torque was uneven and all over the place, and a couple of the screws felt like they were barely torqued to 10 inch pounds, my guess.

Other than that, it's a razor and I think I'm gonna like it.

Credo 1-6 with the segmented circle is a sleeper.  Some people don’t think it’s bright enough tho, but it’s never bothered me.

I guess this is more bragging than anything because I see they're out of stock now, but I picked up one of these last Friday for $332. Taking it out next weekend and see what I think. Honestly, I doubt I'll use that red dot very often.

I had the venom for a while as a place holder since last year, and I was really impressed by it. The 1x was a big surprise for me. The ocular disappeared not quite like it but pretty close to the razor, and was better than the PA nova 1-6 I also had.  JME, everybody's different.

IMO the razor is still the gold standard.

I just got mine from eurooptic.

This is the second razor I've owned. I had a non-E with the JM1 reticle years ago.

The scope is as nice as I remember, the illumination definitely seems brighter than the last one I had.

The mount seems almost like a knockoff of a badger or a geissele (I mean that as a compliment). I'm going to end up putting it in a taller mount since I keep stand-up guns with 1.93 mounts, but I'll probably keep this mount for the 6arc I'm working on in case I end up with a 30mm optic.

I was wondering if anyone else who has the EBR-7F reticle has noticed this or if something is off with my scope.

I have a Razor Gen II HD-E with the VMR-2 MRAD reticle. When I adjust my eye position around, the red dot is still visible to the edges of the glass. It's not super sharp, but it is visible. On the scope with the EBR-7F reticle I just purchased, the dot disappears almost immediately when your eye moves to a position that isn't centered. Is this normal for the this reticle?

Just saw this, and got mine out and noticed that the center dot doesn't get any dimmer but just loses some of its blooming, or halo around the outer edges if you will. The center is just as bright no matter where I put my head, of course that is until I go too far and then you're losing the entire eyebox anyways with Lpvos.  This was at all brightness levels.

Definitely won't be getting rid of mine because of this though. YMMV.

This is a common thing to hear about with diffractive illum. This razor employs it. The other VMR/JM1 employs a fiber dot. People ask if their PLXC RDB etc are broke for the same reason.

Thanks for the info.. That's interesting. I just assumed they were utilizing the same technology. I guess that would also explain why the dot doesn't seem as crisp to me on the EBR-7F reticle as it does on the VMR-2 MRAD reticle.
