I think I’m pretty much done with my dedicated AR22.  I have just a little tweaking to do with the ambi bolt release and it’ll be 100%.

Looks good, what barrel and bolt did you use?

It’s a 16” Nordic Components upper.  I wanted their 18” but they haven’t been in stock anywhere since I started looking.

Nordic Components uppers get good reviews and are reported to be accurate barrels.

I have numerous Black Dog Machine magazines of various capacities and generations.  I also have a few CMMG magazines.   I have also bought a few of the magazines sold by Arms Unlimited.   These magazines are the same pattern as my old gray CMMG mags but cheaper.   Here are links to fifteen and twenty five round AU magazines.

Here is a picture of an Arms Unlimited twenty five round magazine left next to a CMMG gray twenty five round magazine.   Except for the color the mags are functionally the same.

Get the McFadden loader, it is the shit for the black dog mags. My AR22 is my favorite rifle, with a sparrow and cci standards

I’ve been using the Kriss mags with the extra power spring from Bore Buddy.  Using a JP Enterprise bolt catch.  Has been working flawlessly!

I’ve read the Kriss mags are good and work with the JP bolt catch for a fully functional bolt catch.   I’ve been shooting 22 LR in AR-15’s since the late 90’s and don’t mind the bolt hold open follower magazines.   I rarely shoot on a public range and almost exclusively shoot on private property where I don’t need a fully functional bolt catch.

I shoot 22 LR AR-15’s more than any other long gun.   I have several steel targets I shoot regularly with my 22 rimfire pistols and rifles.

Yep the Kriss mags and the JP catch work flawlessly together.  Now if I can get them to cooperate with the Seekins ambi button.

Black Dog Gen3 magazines.
Steel feed lips and a loading button similar to S&W MP15-22 magazines.
Best there is and work in full auto.

Will they hold after last round?

The 32 round BDM magazine has the bolt hold open follower like the other BDM mags.   I have a couple of the 32 round BDM mags but they don’t fit some mag pouches because they are longer than typical 5.56 30 round AR-15 mags.

Here is a picture of the BDM 32 round (DPMS/Colt) mag with the ejector in the left feed lip otherwise is the same mag as used with the CMMG/Nordic.   To the right of the BDM 32 round is an early BDM 25 round mag, 15 round BDM, twenty round 5.56 Brownell’s curved AR-15 mag, and far right a DPMS ten round 22 LR AR-15 magazine.

You can see the BDM 32 round magazine is a good bit longer than the twenty five round BDM magazine.

Another magazine I have had good luck with is the Chiappa M4 22 magazine.
They have the loading button and for me have run flawlessly on full auto.

But, I don't know about last round bolt hold open.
Only about their ease of loading and reliability.

Shot a 217 at an Appleseed event this weekend with the rifle.  Gonna keep practicing so I can get that 230!
