Steel, $10.99. Don't know anything about them, but may try a couple. "Mora Arms T-M16A1: Introducing the Mora Arms T-M16A1 — a dependable 20-round M16A1-style magazine built for shooters who demand classic style and modern reliability. I got my three today. Look okay. They are new or like new -with a Classic Firearms sealed plastic sleeve. They are made of aluminum (not steel as advertised & non magnetic) and rigid body that is painted silvery gray color, black metal base-plate, plastic follower. The finish is like a paint - not like the USGI silver metallic coating found on USGI 20rd mags of Vietnam era etc. There are no markings of any kind that I can see on them - Seems good for the money. I will try to give them a whirl - Seems like a small retro score. |
|
Got my two mags recently. First of all, as already noted they aren't steel. Aluminum with plastic followers. Here they are compared to a Brownells 20 and two old GI 20s, one Adventureline and one Simmonds. Attached File Attached File Lower: Taiwanese; Brownells Upper: Adventureline; Simmonds Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File Taiwanese; Brownells; Adventureline; Simmonds Haven't taken them to the range yet. |

On the Taiwanese mags the middle ribs on the side don't go all the way down, just like the originals. The Brownells middle rib goes all the way to the baseplate. |

Didn't straight 20 rounders made subsequent to the ones with the metal followers have polymer followers that weren't anti-tilt? I'm surprised no one is making straight 20 rounders with metal, non anti-tilt followers. My hunch is they would sell a lot. |

Umm, how does an anti-tilt follower in a straight 20 round mag make it MORE reliable? |

I love a good double entendre.

I took mine to the range this past weekend. They worked as expected. Classic Arms mis-stated some details, as is almost SOP for retailers to cut and paste and embed misinfo these days- but still happy with the mags for the $10 price point. They look retro and can beat on these vs the originals I have. |

It's $10.99 and if it works properly that's all I care about. |

I bought 15 of these magazines, and they are most impressive! The quality of construction was quite the surprise. They have a greenish hue and IMHO too, is that they are aluminum. I haven't loaded them as yet, but hopefully I can put a few through their paces soon. |

These mags are nice. If you like aluminum followers: Aluminum Follower |

Are the followers better quality than the rest of parts Masen makes? |

I haven't seen him have issues thus far. |

Probably not - I kind of think that that is a picture of a polymer/plastic follower and it is "For" Aluminum 20 round magazines - not "made of" aluminum. Kind of hard to tell - Masen has made some good things and sold some neat surplus over the years but he isn't the highest quality manufacturer. |

Received mine today. Not overly impressed. Seem kinda cheap and flimsy to be honest. Body appears to be one piece that obviously was bent or pressed around a mandrel or jig. 5 spot welds down the seam. Floor plate seems flimsy, flexes and bends under medium finger pressure. Walls/sides seem to flex under light/medium finger pressure between thumb and forefinger. We have re-qual on the 6th, I'll try to see how they do. I hope they surprise me, but im not expecting much. |
|
IMO, they are just like my Colts, but lighter. I suspect that is the difference between the plastic follower and the cast follower. The floor plate might be a little thinner. I haven't used them yet. They may fall apart. We'll see. |
I love a good double entendre.

Twenty rounders won't function with a anti tilt follower that's in a thirty rounder. It has to tilt a little to make up for the taper of the shell casing. |
| Just in case anybody is still interested, I bought six of these about 3 months ago. I took them to the range today, and ran 120 rounds thru the A2. No problems with them. They are out of stock however, and have been for a couple of months. If I needed more 20 rounders, I wouldn't hesitate to pick up more if/when they are available. |

Retailers are restocking MP5 mags this week from Mora, hopefully that means some of these come back in stock as well. |

I’ll wait to see re: pricing… but I agree that Mora makes good products and should be more available. |

Bought two. While using a screwdriver shaft in the hole in the floor plate to lever it off it bent slightly. Much eaiser than expected. While bending it back I could hear the metal bending. Very cheaply made I think with cheap materials. Ill take these to the range tomorrow to shoot with FRT and report back. Follower is not anti tilt and similar in shape to the original metal follower. 20260620_192953 by B A, on Flickr |
