I'm building a 8" AR pistol, with a 7" rail. I'm currently looking at weapons lights and like the Streamlight HL-X Pro so far. My only concern at this point is that the light will be too large and interfere with my hand on the rail.

Does anyone know if the light could be too large and interfere with the handhold or if there should still be enough room?

A lot of this will depend on how you mount the light. Streamlight uses the scout light pattern so you have a ton of options.
