Go to page 6, and find the post marked with a large "UPDATE-MARCH 6". In blue writing, you will find same story that is posted in "45 Lower" thread, page 2. Minor glitch is he is offering blocks at $99 till March 1, but he finally posts after absence on 3-11 at 16:36hr. I had an understanding he would not accept anybodys' money until blocks were done and in his hands ready for sale/shipping, so is he going to extend the $99 price, because the parts are finisher on 3-11? | I'm waiting to hear, and also waiting for a mag block that installs like Colt style 1 piece, and uses plain Uzi mags. Dealer in MD has 3 ordered. 1 is mine when it gets here, finally got a bolt from Garrison Mfg last week, need something to hold my mags in place. |
| They are at my machinist this week who has been sick all week. They get top priority next week at hopefully I will be test firing them early next week. I will take a set to Texas with me to the Hun Shoot for real time test. If all goes well we should be able to start shipping then [:D] |

The unit sticks out the bottom of the magwell maybe 1.5-1.75", and mags retained via std Uzi style catch. I have a magwell from an Uzi that I cut off, and some steel blocks, but no access to a mill to cut them up. The trigger housing is getting an M3 well installed, so Uzi have 30 round in 45acp, 2nd group will hold std 9mm mags. A mag change would be exactly like Uzi, all left hand change, no right hand/trigger finger movement to find AR mag release, right hand controls firearm totally. Only negative is the mags do not fall readily out, as catch drags the magbody all way out. No need to cut notches @ $10-15/mag, and this block is retailing @ $125. |

I take it by the phrase "bolt ramping" that you are running a Colt pattern upper,,, if so, the SOCOM block and Sten mags will do you no good-- 1- the mags will sit way forward, wrong position for Colt system. 2- Block does not have the ejector on it. SOCOM block is for the Oly system. |

I'll trade him a PII450 CPU with a LAN card or modem (whichever he needs) for a mag block. Who knows how to contact him? ADDED: I'll even ship it to him. There a Staples with a UPS counter within walking distance of my apartment. |

He has a computer because he comes into the chat room late at night but they still have his other computers with all the CAD and CNC drawings, codes on them. |

Since everyone has been guessing... I was supposed to get my CAD/CAM system back on April 11th 2003. The DA was sorry to say it wasn't ready. Rumor has it I set the computer crimes until back 9 months when they got into my boxes. They took 5 systems from me, and my exroommates laptop. (total of 6 systems) All my systems had a minimum of 2 HDD's, most more, and the big box had 6 in it when they took it. (it has had 11) If my computer is not returned as innocent & fully intact on or before May 16th, 2003 I will attempt to get a court order forcing the computer crime dept to create a backup of all CAD files dated from 1-1-2001, and provide it to me by close of business on May 19th, 2003. (if the court agrees) The ejectors are done. The custom tooling I designed and had made by a Tool & Die shop is all here. The other tooling required is also here. [i]All I need now are all the CAD files for each of the remaining parts - then I can continue making up the conversion kits.[/i] I considered starting over and making new drawings, but I have sold the rifle I had used to design the kit. (feeding the attorneys) I still have a 9mm upper assy to function test the first group, but thats not the same as having the complete functional weapon. Things like this are why I have always refused to accept deposits on anything until I'm ready to ship. My apologies to all for the delays. Greg |

To all those who just recently asked about getting the Word file, my computer at home crashed and I don't know how long it will be before it will be up and running. so, I am forced to check email via the library and at a friends. I'll try to email it to those who requested as soon as I can.. |

I had found an Oly Owners site that had an article in it about a fellow that modified a Colt magblock conversion unit to accept mags for a bigass 10mm and work in his oly setup but for the life of me I can't find it now -- I though I saved it in "Favorites" but no. He said it worked but not 100% -- he would not depend on it for self defense. He may have worked out any little bugs by now though. Maybe you have the patience to hunt the site down on the web. edited to add; This is a newer version of the original article I found. go to this site and move down the page about half way and you'll find an AR that takes the 10mm and works with a Colt one piece magblock. Just got my block finished. 2 Questions for the peanut gallery: 1 Do I need a special 9mm bolt for full auto to go with my registered receiver, or will the standard RRA bolt do full auto? 2 wHEN NOTCHING MAGS, DO I insert sten mags as far up into the well as possible, to the point where the tabs on the side of the magazine prevent further insertion, or do I have to guage each one according to the bolt? |

Well, I don't know about full auto 9mm bolts... my state won't let me have them. Ah yes. This is a slight issue for aluminum lowers. I used a Cav Arms lower, so the bottom of the mag is more flared. There are two solutions. The first, I know you won't do since it's a registered FA lower. It means "notching" the area where the mags touch the mag well for clearance. The other solution is to pound the original Sten stops flat so that you make sure the mag goes in and touches the bolt. I assume that you have a copy of the Word document and/or access to the web page that hosted it as HTML? The later solution is fairly easy and the tabs can be pulled back up if need be. Oh, by the way. The Sten block and mag set up has been tested on/in a FA gun. Only 2 problems: 1) The block fell out because the screw got loose. 2) Loading the Sten mags were a pain. That's all I was told by the "tester". And his is a reputable person here on AR15.com..... Hope that helps. Post some pics, if you like, when you get done. | Mine works fine on full auto too, better than Uzi mags. Yes, the mags are a pain to load. I need a loader. I scrapped one mag and only have one other mag notched. I need to cut it back the front block a little more so the mags don't fit so tight. Has anyone thought of welding a bar across the top so it becomes a one piece block? I'm thinking about doing that. |

I've actually thought of that. The problem is, how "big" will the bar be. One could do the left and right, but only on the top. I'm not sure how secure that would be. A set screw would still be needed on the bottom... |

| I talked to 2 fellas a few month ago about the situation, and they were looking to find a way to make it a drop-in, or possibly a bottom loader like the VM Hy-Tech block that uses plain Uzi mags, but would still need a way to hold the Sten block in the lower... always an obstacle.... I went with the Hy-Tech block, as I have a bunch of Uzi mag for my Uzi. The Sten mags I bought way back and had refinished are still sitting.... |
