| I feel so inadequete most of my ammo is components right now just have 14K+ of .223/5.56 front line stuff until I get the rest of it made. Then I have training ammo on top of that. I have not bought as much as ya'll have. I just need more 8mm, .303 brit, and 9mm now and some better .223/5.56 front line stuff. Need to buy the gun/ammo safe as well soon. So many things to buy so little time and not enough to go with my other hobby day trading. My portfolio is just worth a little less than 75K right now need to make that bigger as well. |

Do you remember how early in the thread we had some "...you know you're an ammo whore when..." jokes? I just found a new one...you know you're an ammo whore when you can't frame up an ammo stash in a single photo without a telephoto lens. Here's the largest of my four stashes at my place (not the one on my FCC license...thanks thanegrooms [page 5 of this thread, 6th post from the bottom] ):   That's six 50 caliber ammo cans abreast, two deep and 8 cans high, except the 6th row which is 12 cans high (which is out of the photo). All cans filled, cataloged, and in my ammunition database. From my last inventory the pile is 63,205 rounds, comprised of 20 calibers with 95% of it being 9mm NATO, 5.56mm NATO, 7.62mm NATO, 7.62x39mm, 7.62x54R and 8x57mm. The other three stash locations are too difficult to photograph (combined they are 33% the size of my main stash). My problem today: I have 14,260 rounds of 5.56mm NATO and 7.62mm NATO inbound from AIM and Century, due today (no room)! Here comes stash number five... |

It is hard to post after seeing those pics. I added a little over 10k of 7.62x54R, 7.92x57, .303 Brit, 5.56, and 7.62x39 in the past week. I now have a coffee table of Guat 5.56 and a nightstand of Czech 7.62x54. I am adding a printer table of Romanian 7.92 in a couple of weeks.

Thanks, I'll contact you in the future if I need your services but I was able to figure out a "place" to store the ammo. Now I just need to figure out how to get 12 additional ammo cans on the stash

My ammo fu is weak compared to most. 5K in 5.56 2K in .45 1K in 7.62 (Sold my AK but I'm lookin to get another) 4K in .22LR 1K in .40 700 in 12GA Slugs/00 buck/ birdshot I need to get more ammo cans to fill

| Compared to ya'll, I am but an egg. I have something over 4k of 5.56/.223, a few hundred 7.62X39, and I don't know what else in terms of rifle ammo. I have (that I am certain of) about 250 rounds of .40S&W and about 400 of 9mm. I'm even running low on .22LR. One stash, in about 8 .50 cal cans-total. |

Yes we must have a consensus on total amount excluding the 22lr. Caliber specific with associated totals. I NEED to know so that I can attain the glorious postion of AMMO WHORE.

I contend that .22 LR could count, but it should count by weight, or by some established ratio to non-rimfire ammo. For example; would you consider a person sitting on 250,000 rounds of .22 LR not an ammo whore? I say 10:1 ratio of .22 LR to "other" ammo for whoreness. Since no one is throwing out figures I'm going to say 10k in ammo (remembering the ratio above) makes you an ammo whore, 5k in a specific caliber makes you a whore with a specialty. |
10k? Half of ARFCOM are ammo whores. Matters on who you ask. Ask the JBTs when they show up at your house and a brick of 22lr makes you a whore. |

Damn, I'm sooo bummed. Even with ammo for my 23 rifles and shotguns, including buying 2 AR's and 4500 rounds of ammo for them since the end of November, and 12 handguns with ammo for all of them I don't even qualify as a slut to many on here.  I'm gonna have to work on my reputation some more. Kinda gettin' low on .45 acp anyway.

A true ammo whore counts in pounds not rounds. I would set the threshold at 1000 lbs of ammo. 1000lbs = approximately 22LR = 135k = 1000lb 223 = 36k = 1000lb 308 = 18k = 1000lb 50 BMG = 4k = 1000lb Edit to say I don't have that much ammo, only quoting what a 1000lb of ammo is for these calibers |
223 gets the job done, 308 makes a statement, 50 BMG shows an attitude!
Oh boy... the red is sooooooo my husband. Although it does NOT keep him from shooting (or me from shooting either). What it DOES do is enable us to enjoy going out and popping off a couple hundred rounds every time we go out, and not worry about the price of restocking it for now. We can wait until the "Peak Ammo" sky falling crap is just another "you know, back when I was young...." kind of story to tell the kids about.
