I wonder if this would be considered an obvious gun case it doesn't seem so to me. |

Originally this had a SBA3 brace on carbine buffer tube, so most AR pistol lowers should fit just fine. For this size case, about 10" is the longest barrel + MD length it can handle. https://i.imgur.com/2lajyWK.jpeg Inside, 12 magazine loops in the top half, along with holders for accessories, tools, and spare parts. https://i.imgur.com/IWLrQDh.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/bkIoIvn.jpeg This particular case is too small for most anything running a proper scope as an optic, although with QD releases one could get creative with part placement, I suppose. I carry this all over as my business case. Just looks like an old laptop case to most people. Kids don't ask about it or poke at it. It doesn't pique others' curiosity or catch the eye. People just ignore it. Also has the benefit of double locks on it, so it keeps the suppressor locked up, however loosely, enough to prevent unauthorized access. I love it |

ProTip: Never pick a fight with a tree planter. He swings a hoedad for 9 hours a day, carries 30-40 pounds of seedlings on his back, and has 12-14 friends just like him hiding out on the other side of the junk butt pile. They will fuck your shit up.

I like the Apache cases from Harbor Freight. They are not strictly for guns (even though mainly what they advertise them for, but not a gun manufacturer name), could be for cameras, drones, etc.. Not sure if would work for your purpose, but they are good quality and i have several with no issues https://www.harborfreight.com/search?q=apache%20case |

So, doesn't having a bag labeled "tactical" explicitly suggest firearms & weapons are its contents, and thus fall squarely within a single use container? If the idea is avoiding single use doctrine, that is avoiding using a container that is clearly intended for guns, kinda undone by having a "tactical" label on it? What cop would look at a bag labeled tactical and not think, "that's a gun bag."? At the very least, it sure seems like a good way to tempt fate and/or give your lawyer a bigger challenge than necessary. Not saying they aren't good bags. Just kinda wondering. |

I'm not sure what the OP is trying to imply here because in RI you can freely transport firearms in the state. If they are loaded, it is only legal if you have a ccw permit. So if the police pulls him over, they could not say he is doing anything illegal. The only time single purpose container exception comes into play is during a lawful traffic stop and the police suspects you are doing a crime in which case they can search your car should they see something so obvious that it does not fall under the 4th amendment right. For example, if you carry a gun case, a reasonable person would assume it contains a firearm. It's mainly for situations where you have drugs or such in a bag that can clearly be seen by the officer. Basically they didn't pull you over, arrested you, and then said hey look we found all this illegal crap on you. However, again there's nothing illegal about transporting firearms and if you have it loaded, it's not illegal should you have a permit. So I'm confused as to why the OP is worried about or want to conceal the fact? |

So I'm confused as to why the OP is worried about or want to conceal the fact? Maybe you haven't been to America any time in the past 75 years or so, but ever since the invention of the traffic stop, the severe over-use/mis-use of "reasonable suspicion" by police has been about as common as the after-work beer. We give cops a pass on bad behavior all too often. There's no point in not availing yourself of another legal tool, should you be stopped for whatever reason. At the very least, if a cop can see a gun case, they're likely to start with the 20 questions game, and come up with something you say to indicate something worth arresting you over, or searching your car over -- and maybe planting something. Or finding something that fell out of a pocket of a person who rode with you. You never know! People get arrested for OWIs who are not at all intoxicated regularly. Not at a high rate, but still, regularly. No, not all cops are bad. Not saying that. But there's enough bad ones that you can't be certain you'll get a neutral to good cop. Either way, the more legal standards on your side in such a situation, the easier it will be to get whatever nonsense a bad cop arrests you for dismissed. The concept that you don't need legal protections because your activity is legal is completely backwards. Legal protections keep your legal activity free from invasive interference. Use them. Beyond the legal reasons, having firearms draws attention. Period. Sports bags, laptop bags, briefcases, backpacks, etc. do not draw the same attention. Single purpose doctrine, while a legal principal, is something that, if avoided, provides the benefit of privacy. I enjoy my privacy, and whether or not I have a gun is none of anyone's business unless I'm coming onto their private property. |
