I started getting parts several years ago to build a suppressed 8" 300blk pistol. When doing so I bought a 8" Stag Arms barrel. My household income has gone up so I can afford to up my budget for the build. Would it be worth it to buy a Noveske or Criterion barrel instead? I could afford it but not sure if it would really just be throwing extra money away that I could put towards an optic or other things. My purpose will be plinking, home defense, and larping at the range. Currently have a stripped Aero upper and lower, as we as the suppressor. |

Stag is part of Aero Precision/Ballistic Advantage i.e. White Wolf Capital. Pretty sure Aero does their receivers and BA does their barrels. One of my best shooting 300blk barrels is a Ballistic Advantage. I think your barrel will be AOK for what you want to do. |

Strangely I was in the exact same position you are in. I have a registered SBR 2A Armament build set and had originally purchased a BA Hanson barrel for the build. I always felt that I compromised on the barrel. But such is life sometimes, the build components sat in a box until recently when I decided to revisit and complete the build. Due to the barrels length being slightly longer that I wanted past the end of the hand guard, I started looking for a 8” barrel. I looked at several including Noveske, Wilson, and Geissele. Ultimate I decided on the Geissele with their phased array gas system thus negating the need for an adjustable gas block for suppressed/unsuppressed use. Ultimately life is short. Do/build what makes you happy. |

Not yet as I ordered it on Monday. It should arrive on Friday. I’ve heard outstanding things about their phased array gas system and its ability to balance supers and subs both suppressed and unsuppressed without the added complexity/cost of an adjustable gas block. Another consideration was the reported weight being several ounces lighter than the other higher end barrels I was considering. I’ll know for sure when it arrives and I throw it on the scale. |

I had my 300 BLK barrel built by purchasing a 26" .308, 1/7 twist, 4 groove, single cut , 1.25" diameter stainless barrel blank from Bartlein Barrels. I mailed the blank out to Compass Lake, had them cut the blank in half and make two identical 300 BLK SBR barrels out of it. In the end, total cost was $330 per barrel. Unfortunately, the owner of Compass Lake passed away and his son does not do custom work anymore. I love that barrel. I use in in the rifle I use as my duty rifle at work. Shoots certain lots of factory Barnes 110 TAC-TX and Hornady 190 SubX into 5 shot sub MOA groups at 100 yards. Will go 5 for 5 on 6" steel at 300 yards with supers. I have never even worked up handloads because of this. Then again, I would never handicap a 300 BLK by using a barrel that short and I use a LPVO to take advantage of the accuracy. Why? Because... only accurate guns are interesting. |
