So I've read the instructions on how to set the block and they want you to use the ejection "chart" as a guide for proper gas setting. Problem is that the 458 I'm needing to tune ejects different because of the design of the case so the chart is useless. Should I just turn the GB well into the bleed off position so I don't get lock back, then once I achieve lock back go another 1/2 turn or so for reliability? Tromix CS said to start a couple clicks from fully closed and work from there but the instructions for the GB recommend not to shoot the gun with the block in the restrictive mode because it'll wreck havoc with the adjustment screw. |

If that's the case, I would just ignore the ejection pattern. Judge by gas only. Just my opinion, but I would not bother using the SA gas block if you cannot utilize the bleed-off feature. I would start by backing the adjustment screw out 18 clicks from bottomed out, which is the wide open position. Fire a round to make sure the bolt locks open. Continue to back out the adjustment screw into the bleed off zone until the bolt doesn't lock back, then close it however much you feel comfortable with. I would probably tighten it down a full turn (4 clicks), but that's just me. I have found that sometimes turning it down only 2 clicks does not always give me 100% consistent bolt lock back. I have only used the SA gas block with 300BLK though. |

I have only used the SA gas block with 300BLK though. Thanks for the info. 458 operates at pretty low pressure, only around 35000psi max so I'm sure I won't be too much into the bleed off mode. The upper is a Tromix so I have no doubts it'll be gassed incorrectly, I just want to tame it down a bit for suppressor use. |
