I have a Mk18 that I plan on selling. I SBR’d it but rather than hassle with removing it from the registry and having a gunsmith mess with the engraving, I had another idea—I have another Daniel Defense lower that I could theoretically swap over (removing the stock so it stays in pistol format), and sell the Mk18 that way. I would then swap my current SBR’d lower onto the 16inch upper this came from. This would not need any ATF involvement or SBR amendments since it’s technically going onto a rifle (16 inches) Just making sure I’m not missing any stupid technicalities by going this route? |

So you want to put the non marked lower on the MK18 upper and then replace the stock with a brace? I might be wrong but you can't do that because I believe the ATF says that once a lower is assembled as a rifle it can't be made into a pistol. Now, in reality who is going to know the swap was made unless they run the serial number on the "pistol"and saw it was shipped from the factory as a rifle. Not that I'm suggesting breaking the law or anything. |
