First, I know I can ask Vortex customer service, and I will if necessary. It's Sunday currently, so I'm here first. This is the official reticle subtension diagram for the AR-BDC4 MOA reticle:  I'm interested in the distances to the smaller, "50 yard" vertical hash marks, indicated by "?":  Thanks to anyone with insights. If I don't see the info here in a few days, I'll bug Vortex and report back. |

I'll sweat hundredths if I want to while I wait for Vortex's response! 😆 From a shooting standpoint, I truly don't sweat it. That said, I mounted my Spitfire higher than usual (on carry handle). That higher height over bore invalidated the 50 yard zero Vortex recommends, and I kinda let myself go down a rabbit hole looking at how trajectories line up with the reticle with the new height-over-bore. Now I know that there's information I am uncertain of. You are right, I don't really need to sweat this. But now that I got curious, it'll irritate me (not constantly, but every so often) if I don't find out. To me, getting an exact answer to something like this is like the feeling of cracking open a beer after the workday's done -- it is very satisfying, and it signals it's time to relax and appreciate things. Even though it won't affect my shooting, from a knowledge base standpoint, I'd prefer to know exactly... especially for that very bottom one. |
