The recent thread on manuals reminded me of BROvet04/William Doyal who had a large collection of scanned manuals:
https://www.ar15.com/forums/ar-15/RETRO_manual_download_buffet/123-701029/

Then I realized it's been a few years since we've seen him.  I used to chat with him often from 2013 to 2016.

I figured he got busy with life or interests/focus changed and looked him up and realized he hasn't logged onto arfcom since 2018 so I decided to google him and found this:

https://www.beckchapels.com/obituary/6550374

Looks like the Patriot Guard were at his service

http://www.centexpgr.org/forum/viewthread.php?forum_id=18&thread_id=3104

Looking at his obituary "Memorial contributions may be made to Mission22.com" which looks like it's a foundation for PSTD and TBI.  We talked mostly retro and I wasn't aware of any personal demons he may have been fighting.  I know he had some stuff with the Army and a bad divorce in 2014.  RIP William.  Sorry if you ever needed someone to talk to and I wasn't there.

That is very sad news. I sent him quite a few manuals in the day and have emailed him end of last year with no reply and now understand why.....

That is a shame and I know he was a great asset to this community.

Thank you for letting us know.

Damn sorry to hear this. Had many many good dealings with him, helped him out as best I could with original early correct parts and info when he was building. It surprised him that I knew that the BRO in his user name didn't stand for brother, he was Big Red One, US 1st Infantry Division.
I figured he moved on too.

Aten-Hut,,, Present Arms.  A Soldier has passed. Rest in peace.

If anyone here ever needs anyone to talk to please reach out.  I'm sure there are a lot of guys here that'll lend an ear.  This isn't GD and the friendships I've made here go back many years.  This just really bums me out.  I'm assuming his passing was due to PTSD due to the foundation they wanted donations sent to.  I'm also bummed that it took 2 years to find this out.

Some old threads with familiar faces and happier times.

Sad news. In the General section there is a Memorial forum. Might post it there also if it is not posted already.

I’m saddened to hear about BROvet04.

Mission22 is an organization that supports vets with PTSD and other issues.

As we all should know, veteran suicide is a major problem, and though it is no longer “22 a day,” last year’s numbers (17 daily) are still too high.

Mission22 helps with the issues that can eventually lead to suicide - helplessness, lack of “a mission,” and many others.  It’s just one of a number of organizations that veterans such as myself should support as part of taking care of our own.

RIP, BROvet04.  You are, finally, relieved.

Man that is so sad I had texted him back in may and he would normally reply quickly, now we know why. I would chat with him on and off and was good to talk to. Gonna miss him.
