Can someone please educate about options for bipod QD mount? I am looking to set it up for a 16” spr with a mpvo scope + offset dot. I just don’t want the extra weight of the bipod when I don’t need. Right now I run a Magul pic rail bipod. |

Adm makes a pic rail qd for the Magpul 17s bipod. I recently got an atlas bipod that has the adm qd pic rail mount. When swapping between rifles I have had to adjust the tension on the clamp to get it to lock properly on the different manufacturers pic rails. It’s an easy and quick adjustment. Harris makes a quick detach for their bipods also. |
| Magpul's M-Lok stud for Harris type bipods is great. Very unobtrusive when the bipod is off and much lower profile than rail-based mounts. I've also drilled and tapped holes directly in rails and threaded in a stud. That's even lower profile. Detaching a Harris from a stud takes under 30 seconds. |

Hands down the current best option imo is the Arisaka Rail Slider. It locks up solidly, can be adjusted for tension to allow it to slide on a pic rail with the push of a button or to lock up tightly, is very robust, and is quite low profile, adding very little height to the bipod. Gone are my ADM and LaRue bipod mounts. I use only the Arisaka at this point. The Arisaka mlok 1913 rail segments come in various lengths in mlok and keymod. One can use the longer segments to allow the rail to be slid fore and aft like an ARCA system for dynamic/barricade shooting positions. I use a Rail Slider on a segment of 1913 rail on my HK 23E Beltfed and it’s been very robust. |

Seconds on, seconds off. I have this on a rifle I dont want to have a larger pic rail solidly bolted to my short rail. Problem is it will eventually shift and come loose and requires maintenance by flushing clean and oiling to stay functional. Ultimately, it is OK for a few rounds of 300 BLK to zero, test ammo, etc. But it is not for heavy calibers, austere conditions, or for use in mission critical roles. Since I never know when it will work partially loose, I can't rely on it for competition use either. IMO it is better suited to uses like mounting a flashlight or something similar that won't see lots of force and tbe slightl play wont impact sighting accuracy. |

I get that, its mostly used on my 5.56 rifles and a .308 on occasion, nothing bigger and can see how that might be an issue. I keep the clips oiled so they continue to work well and haven't had any issues myself. Sustained use with heavier calibers would be better served by a heavier mount. |
