Looking to get a 45 offset or 12:00 in conjunction with a NX8 used for passive NV.  It's on a scalarworks 1.93 mount so I got the option to piggyback or get the 45 kick off to the right.  Im thinking I want a 45 to the right, but im sure I can try one mount then go the other way.... Anywho... This will be used with a single pvs14.  would like to keep it 2032 battery.  whats the new hotness these days for that?

I like the AEMS. Almost eotech clear with aimpoint like battery life but for 400$ or less. It may be a bit big to use in conjunction with a scope.

RMR if you're a baller, otherwise Holosun works ok.

Get the 12 o'clock mount. It's more natural than twisting your rifle around and having to work out drops on a weird angle.

Nah you aren’t going to want an offset, even with a 1.93.  Pretty hard to use no
Matter which eye you have the PVS14 on

Piggyback is the way. Not all “night vision settings “ are created equal.  I’d stick with Aimpoint T-2 or acro or a Trijicon RMR variant

I have an RMR piggybacked on my Razor 1-6. Works great.

So I would imagine an rmr would be small enough to not have too much clutter for a single tube?

I have a few Eotechs and I prefer the AEMS. It's very clear, has killer battery life, shake awake (my EXP3s are 3 or so years old and don't have that) and clear glass.  For passive under NODs, it's my favorite of all my optics. Too bad it's Chinesium.

You won't see the housing at all.

I use a T2 with a single RVM-14. I prefer cheek weld over floating so 45° @1.93" is what I use.

Still an NV noob but it works on my SPRish build.

Double tap but reuse for some better pictures. I like how the red dot zeroes in near vertical line with my laser. Makes for pretty intuitive holds and cross check of laser zero to dot.

Clutter? It disapears.

1.93 is too tall for a piggy back. You’ll need a 1.93 rmr offset mount like arisaka.

Ive used RCR, RMR Hd2, DPP-NV, and P2.

Hands down the DPP-NV was the best, but the P2 was a close second and much more durable. The Trijicon stuff was trash due to parallax, focus, and being too bright.

The T2 was good but bulky in that role.

HD2?

Focus?

Too bright?

What?

Anyway, RMRs and RMR-HDs are great passive, and disappear under NODs unlike the P2 and T2.

Sorry, "RMHD2".

And yes, it has poor focus. If you set the nvd to "infinity" the center dot turns to a smear. If you set the dot crisp, everything else is a slight blur.

Yes, its too bright. On the dimmest setting it produces a soft 20moa or so halo around the dot if you set it as a single dot, or the whole area is washed out with the circle-dot setting. I shoot stuff in the dark dark, not in well lit run n gun stages on the edges of suburbia. If you are shooting down main street under sodium lights, sure, it's great. Once you try to use it in the dark under some good tubes though, the halo is annoying and washes out smaller targets.

The best I can describe it is that optics like the P2 and DPP-NV have 1 setting lower than the RMR family. So imagine a P2 that won't go below its next dimmest NV setting, and thats an RMR product.

The housing is wonderful under nvds though. All but disappears. Then, so does the DPP-NV, and its much better, albeit much less durable. Annoying.

I have 4 RMR-HDs and none of them have these issues, they get plenty dim and the dot looks plenty crisp.

I have great tubes, and have shot them in nearly all lighting conditions to include where I normally shoot, which is backwoods Mississippi with zero light pollution, or totally blacked out shoot houses.

I shoot almost exclusively passively so they get used often.

Ive used a ton of different RDS passively and the RMR-HD has been by far my favorite.

Maybe my sample of 1 rcr and 1 rmr hd is different. All I can say is what I observe.
