| The 5.45x18 or 7N7 is a Russian pistol cartridge for the PSM pistol (pisztolyet szamozcryadnij malogabaritnyj) and the OT-23 Drutik machine pistol which were origanly intendend for high ranking Soviet officers but found popularity amoungst police and the KGB as an easily concealed and suppressed weapon. It uses a light spitzer pointed jacketed high velocity bullet and is 1.5 times more powerful than the .25 acp. At 8 meters it is said to penetrate 30-45 layers of kevlar soft body armor followed by 10-15 layers of solid pine wood. Its bullet is 38.6 gr FMJ that travels at 1000fps and has 94 ft lbs of energy, it comes in a 36 round box. It was designed by Antonina Denisova in 1970 at the Tula factory who still produces lead ball ammo for training and overseas markets. wolfgang |

Yes, about 99% of the bullets that I have cut are from my personal collection. They are either bought at gun shows or from the internet auctions and friends help me out by sending me a few rounds at a time which I cut and return some cutaways for their collections as well. I've never sold any (yet) and trade my extras to anybody who wants to trade, which makes my collection grow even bigger.
They are kept in a small file cabinet that would be difficult to take pics from. Zhukov (one of the moderaters?) from AR15.com was so gracious as to post most of them in the Ammo Forum Faqs. Its under #16 Wolfganggross Cutaways so that everyone could enjoy. Thanks for the postive comments, they do keep me going. wolfgang |
