IIRC it was called the "Cyclone" bullet by some and was designed to defeat body armor, and basically act as a cookie-cutter, extruding flesh, when it hits the target. |

Thanks osprey21 for the pic and added info which came from Mattew Collins book "Pistol Caliber Penetrators". This is the second variation as the ANSB (annular nose solid base) design which the US army ordered 100,000 cartridges supposedly for Delta Force and covert ops use. There is an actual instance of these being used at the Branch Davidian compound raid in Waco Texas in 1993 when an agent repotedly shot him self in an accidental discharge immediately prior to the raid, as reported in the 1993 "Soldier of Fortune" magazine.
The orginal Guilford Cyclone were hollow all the way through with a white/ clear nose plug for feeding. These where used in the British goverment which were meant agaisnt fleeing vehicles whereby officers could deflate tires and cause rapid deflation. Mostly used in Northern Ireland against the IRA in the early to late '80s. Collins book is a good read and suggest that if you are intrested in gettig a copy.
