Question for those of you who run this setup- I put together a Badger COMM with top mount RMR setup the other day. Its going to go on a 14.5 setup when it gets delivered, but in the meantime I set it up on a KS1 just to tinker with it. Due to the height of the turret on the NX6 its piggybacked on, I wouldn't benefit from going to a lower RMR mount option, like the PMM cowgirl or similar, so I'm stuck with it up there, relatively high. The priority for this rifle is obviously going to be medium range engagements and beyond, but even on the KS1, its light enough that its still *very* handy and maneuverable, and could absolutely be used to clear a structure. I would like this rifle to have the capability to do that. However I'm running into a bit of a snag. I use unity height mounts on all my RDS optics, and this thing is probably a full inch taller than those. I am damn near floating the rifle in front of my face with very little, if any contact to my cheek. No issues from a simple low ready, but presenting from a compressed position, Id be struggling. Question of the day- has anyone used a shorter cheek riser (ala GBRS, SC Irregulars etc) with a piggyback setup? Idea being that its short enough to clear my head when I'm shooting prone, or rolling my head forward and down to get behind the NX6 at 1.54 height, but there when I need it while mobile where the RDS would be the optic I'd want to get behind? I haven't seen or used these shorter cheek risers, so I'm wondering if they're short enough to be out of the way when using the lower optic in a more "traditional" shooting position, without hitting ear pro etc. Setup in question: Attached File Thinking a .5 cheek riser from GBRS or similar may be out of the way prone, but give me more purchase when fishing for that red dot? |

Attached File Chop a Magpul in half, 2 risers for like $20. It will work on the DT PR. |

I have nearly the exact same set up and yes, I use the magpul .25 cheek riser. I had the .5 for awhile but it was to difficult for me to get behind my main optic it in all positions (ymmv). I switched to the .25 and it's better for the main optic and give me a little bit more stabilization and a touch point when I go to the top dot. To save money and actually get the perfect length riser for you, I would highly recommend just buying the $20 magpul that will pop onto your existing stock and just using a saw or a sander and cutting it down to the length you need so you can full my charge the rifle with the charging handle. Takes about 2-10 minutes, saves money and in my opinion most of the other options are actually to short and towards the rear of the buttstock to be of use in all shooting positions, especially prone. |

I may have to look into doing just that. The goal however, is when shooting prone, or using the main optic, to not have the riser impact anything at all. Ideally, I just place my head in front of it and *only* use the riser when using the dot. |

I have a Centurion 14.5 Midweight barrel that’s been laying around. I was going to put an NX6 2-12 in a Reptilia AUS 1.54 mount on it. My plan was to piggyback an RMR HD behind the turret with just the Reptilia RMR top ring (no spacer plate). I know the turret is in the way, but wouldn’t it still work shooting both eyes open? I haven’t got a chance to see it hands on yet, so obviously may be missing something. As far as the cheek riser - I had a couple from SC Irregulars (.25 and .5) and they were short enough that I was able to place my head in front of them if I wanted a lower cheek weld. Honestly the turtling felt pretty awkward. Especially if you’re doing it to use your magnified optic where you want a better position. |

In the event I need to dial, even though the reticle is designed around holds, my preference is to have the turret unobstructed. Glad to hear that the riser was short enough to not be in the way for other shooting positions. I may order one up and give it a shot. Likely will go with .5. |
