dude...this is not a flame whatsoever...just a curious question... but...why does everyone you shoot with/take pictures of shooting either have no shirt on, or showing their belly and/or have very very little clothing on? like i said...not a flame or a complaint because i enjoy pics of the wifey shooting without much on, but still...jeez...i just think i would feel weird or unsafe if i was shooting with no shoes or no shirt on whatsoever...hot brass is a bitch! |

well, i guess because it's still hot down here. also, not to sound like an ass but i think it's a floridian thing. if i had my way i'd be in flip-flops and board shorts 24/7 but like most i still have to work for a living. even so, i'm wearing my flip-flops right up until the time i punch in. stckin it to the man, ya know. ap eta, here you go, t-shirt and jeans. still no shoes though. reliably putting holes in my target.

Thank you for taking the time to post pictures. I am sure most on this board enjoy them. It is good to see a first time young shooter. They are the voters of tommorow and hopefully they will vote to protect our rights and be the next generation of shooters.

RyanH, Your post shows a shooter w/ his hand using the magwell as a shooting support instead of the vertical forarm grip. Only a suggestion...try it before you knock it. If you take the web portion of your support hand, located between the pointer finger and your thumb, place it at about 45 degrees to the vertical grip, and wrap you thumb around the rail, you will notice greater control of the weapon for follow up shots. Especially when you swing from target to target and back. This is if your hands are large enough. My hands are meatclaws but some of my dept's smaller guys can do this as well. Depends on how much of the thumb can grasp the top of the rail. I use to like the magwell (proably habit from benchrest shoting) hold, but it's no good for room clearing. |
That's my brother shooting my AR in the picture. I've tried using the magwell as a grip but I didn't find it all that comfortable so I stopped doing it. I think this is because I shoot left-handed. This doesn't seem to bother my wife though.  Thanks for the feedback though, I appreciate it. I'll give it a try the next time I'm at the range. |

I've never understood why peple use the magwell grip when they have the VFG mounted. I've seen US Army soldiers do this many times. Whats the point of the VFG if you're not gonna use it? |

Also noticed some shooters: -DO make comments about others and eye protection (Worry about you and yours!) -DO make comments about others gear (If you dont like my gear, YOU buy me something else!) P.S. I like my PERFECTLY LEGAL thigh rig because Im long armed and have difficulty using a hip or cross-draw set-up... We dont come to your house and throw rocks at you while you're mowing do we? So dont do it to us! |

You sound like a broken record. They are legal. In fact there may be cases where they make legality easier. When hunting in our state, a pistol has to be open carried. If you have a coat that drapes loose over your waist, a thigh placement may be better than a belt holster. I think most people buy them for the range, training and SHTF, which at my range is totally legal. You are totally incorrect, twice now. I do agree with the eye protection though. Nothing wrong with promoting eye protection. |
These are some from a recent range trip with my best 10-year old buddy. He's an awesome guy and refuses to accept that he's not an American citizen yet. We had a blast and he is already a decent shooter. He even offered me $20 for the 14.5", and when I turned him down he asked his mother for another $20 to sweeten the deal.  With the Ciener kit.  His arms were a bit tired by this point.  With the 6.8 SPC. This is his favorite.  Not an AR, but his mother's favorite. She had to learn to shoot with the Kalashnikov in high school just in case the Americans invaded.

 Hey with these long gorilla arms, a drop rig is great for me. As far as eye protection, I prefer to train/practice/play the same way I will employ my weapon. We are all adults here and we should extend a common courtesy to our Black Rifle brethren. "Do what you will", hopefully it will be in what you deem a safe and professional manner. Less criticism and more pic posting fellas. |
