The castle nut is peened on my LMT. If I unscrew it to replace the floorplate with a single-point sling adapter mount, do I need to get a new castle nut?

Castle nut should have metal peened from the end plate, pushed into castle nut slots to keep the castle nut from turning.
The end plate or sling mount will be peened again upon install, castle nut is good for reuse. |

Are you sure that the plate isn't the piece that is staked and not the castle nut? If it is the castle nut, is it staked in one spot or in all of them? If it's just one spot, just re-stake it. |

Nice, I've done about 50 changes with the three pin with no issues, and still using it. The 4 pin is nice though. The 3 pin wrench can be got at JT for $12 or so. FWIW. I've tried several of the "one handed" wrenches and this one beats them all. It's money well spent!
