Okay so I picked up a PSA lower with all the mag pull stuff already on it cause it was onsale and magpul stocks looked sturdy while the stock mill speck stuff just looks flimsy. Any who I got a 16" A2 upper and a Pursuit 1-4x24 scope with a cantilever mount. Now I have been trying to sight it in but this trigger is unusable. I don't remember the trigger on my old issue rifle but if it was this bad I'm sure I would have. This thing is so bad I'm having trouble keeping a group on a pie plate at 30 paces, no lie. It feels gritty as fuck and I have tried cleaning it and oiling it up for some dry fire runs. It feels almost acceptable for the first try after oiling but after that the grit sets back in. Any ideas? Is there a kit to clean up the trigger ?? or do I just get some thing else and drop that in? ???? I would like to stick with a 2 stage trigger mil style trigger, just want something I can shoot at a hundred yards or so. ?? |

I'm assuming 30 paces is roughly 30 yards? Take a step back and check you scope and scope mounts. I wouldn't expect much from an $80 scope, and would try swapping with something else for a test. Are you certain the trigger is installed correctly? JP makes trigger spring kits that allow you to reduce trigger pull, or you could try a Schmid, ALG trigger, or the Larue MBT which is one of my favorites. |

First take the upper off and with your finger to stop the hammer from slamming into the receiver - cock and pull the trigger. Is it smooth or does it feel creepy or hard. If creepy or hard - I polish standard triggers using a soft blue rubber type polishing wheel and my Dremel. I don’t remove anything - just polish the contact flats. Then try it again. If better -add a drop of Gun Butter on the contact surfaces and reassemble and try it with the upper. If it still wanders - try another upper. If the second upper does not wander - the first upper needs looking into. An inexpensive scope and mount will wander. Your description seems to indicate a stiff trigger as the main issue and place to start. |
