Hey guys, been using it for awhile now. No issues when firing my AR or pistols but I noticed it dries up if I store the rifle away for awhile. I'll pull it out of the safe and it's bone dry. ill usually give it a good spray right before going to the range and it works fine. Worth it to keep buying or is it junk ? |

The stuff doesn't last forever. |

It's GTG and meets the milspec. The reason it dries up over time is because their method of achieving the "C" in CLP was to make add a light solvent component. Great for loosening up carbon fouling and helping to clean it away, but long term it will evaporate and leave a lighter film behind vs. just a lube-centric product. Just need to do as you said, re apply as needed. Common issue with this sort of all-in-one product. |

That's the problem with CLP. It doesn't clean, lubricate, or protect well. It just does a passable job with each. If it didn't ever dry out, it wouldn't have anything in it that would clean. If it cleaned really well, it wouldn't have anything in it that would lubricate or protect. I'm sure it's a fine product for what it is intended for, but I don't see why a normal person would use military style CLP, or clean in the same way they do either. Just get a cleaner, and get an oil, and you will be so much better off. |

| My recommendation is to use CLP in conjunction with grease. Don't mix them together but rather use the CLP as you normally would, wipe it off as best as you can, then apply the grease only to the friction points. A tiny dab will last a very long time depending on the grease. |

I honestly think you can do as good a job using soapy water as cleaner and 3 in 1 oil for lube. Get some Flitz bore cleaner, or even Hoppe's #9 does ok. Then get some good oil like CorrosionX for rust protection. 5w30 motor oil is as good as anything for lubrication. P.S. Your link works as good as CLP does. |
