Some of the parts for my birthday build showed up. I always wanted an anodized od green rifle so this year i decided to build one. Parts so far are Aero m4e1 lower Aero m4e1 upper Aero enhanced buffer tube Aero breach large lever charging handle. SOLGW lower parts kit Larue mbt2s Thinking of using the ADM od green rail they have and possibly using the 10 position buffer tube they have as well. Attached File Attached File |

I've been using Norrell's Molyresin www.molyresin.com for many years with good success. For black anodized receivers you can spray it on with no other surface prep but for degreasing. I use cheap lacquer thinner for that. For parkerized steel parts, again, no other surface prep but degreasing. For new aluminum parts (80%), 100 grit silicon oxide blasting is needed. It's all on the Molyresin site. You have to shake it a lot. It needs no thinning, use it straight from the bottle. Spray it with a cheap airbrush. The cheap gun with the metal reservoir from Harbor Freight works fine, just used one last week. No need to excessively preheat, just having the parts out in the summer sun will do just fine. If you preheat the parts to much the Molyresin will dry on contact leaving an off-color powdery rough finish. If you get a run or drip, just clean the whole part with lacquer thinner and start over. Until the parts are oven cured (300*F for one hour) even if dry to the touch, you can get the Molyresin off. Once cured (thermally set) there is no known solvent that will take it off. Used this stuff for 30 years, and it has held up better than the original finishes. The Socom Flat Black matches most factory anodized black receivers perfectly, or at least, good enough for me. |
Finally satisfied enough to post this in here. Thinking I’ll end up tossing an ODG EOTech XPS2.0 on it. Still needs a sling and a dedicated can as my sandman S lives on another rifle. If anyone is wondering, the FCD EPC fit on the Aero upper with minimal filing.

Attached File 50 shades of green is coming along. Trying to do no cerakote/paint all anodized. No factory furniture looked decent so I died some magpul stuff. I will likely try for a little darker but it works for now. |
